Audiovox is a good bargain.....,

I own a Audiovox 7" from 5yrs ago, my kids love it, take it everywhere, but after all the abuses and throwing around, it finally broke down, still have sound but picture is gone. So it is time for new one, knowing how well Audiovox takes abuses from 2 young kids, we select the Audiovox again, for this great price. When we first receive the player, and we were not happy with the 2"by 1" of battery that is hanging at the back of this DVD is just ackward, our old one have the battery flat at the bottom of the DVD.None the less it is great price for the light wt, thinest durable portable around, we will learn to live with it.

This replaced a much more expensive (Toshiba SD-P1850 Portable DVD Player with 8-Inch Widescreen LCD) that died. The Audiovox has now been in use more than twice as long without failure, and it cost half as much.
What I finally realized is that portable DVD players should be considered disposable. So just buy the cheapest one that meets your needs, use it until it breaks, then buy another. This Audiovox isn't great in terms of sound or picture quality, but it works. And it has dual headphone jacks so both kids can use it on a plane. The Car Kit option (Audiovox D1718PK 7-Inch Portable DVD Player with Bonus Headphones and Car Kit) includes a padded travel case, two sets of headphones, car adapter, and remote, in addition to the DVD player, battery, charger, and A/V cable. The charger and the remote are super cheapo, the battery won't last more than 2 hours yet takes forever to charge, and the supplied A/V cable is a 3-into-1 adapter--since the input on this DVD player is a single plug--so you will still need to use a standard set of composite cables (red/white/yellow) if you want to watch on your TV. BONUS: You can easily make this Region-Free. See link below.

For the most part this DvD player is a good buy, my only complaint is that the battery charge doesn't hold long enough to play most movies. So far it only seems to charge for about 1 1/2 hours of actual DvD playing time before it requires recharging.
Fortunatly I bought them for travel and the DvD player is exceptional for that purpose.
