I did a lot of research before purchasing this unit including purchasing a subpar product (Nextplay - great for kids, except the quality is horrible) that I returned within three days of buying. I bought the DVD player primarily for travel with my three year old son and it has been wonderful. First, it is a terrific deal compared to other such units - nothing compares considering the carrying case, the two sets of headphones, and compliment of jacks. The picture quality is as good as any 7" I've seen and the sound is the best I've heard and easily 'speaks above' road noise and even airplane noise (though I prefer the headsets on a plane). I also use this player a lot as a DVD player in hotels, so this is also a very versitile player. I've only had this since December 2008 so I can't really speak to longevity, but I will say it does seem to be well made and I've not had any problems over the last two months - very refreshing since most electronics these days seem to be of the 'disposable' variety. Battery life also seems pretty good - somewhere around 3.5 hrs - more than enough to get me from Denver to Burbank, CA. And very easy to use - enough functionality for adults, but easy enough for a three year old to use. All in all, I am very happy with this unit and would certainly buy another. The carrying case is good (not great) and works easily in the car. It has sufficient storage for the associated gear (car jack, AC/DC jack, TV jacks, and headphones), but no storage for DVDs. Assuming this lasts at least a year, it is well worth the money.

I bought this for my 2 year old son to have on a 10 hour car drive. It worked well and I liked the car battery option. It worked on that trip and 1 other shorter trip and then went dead. Luckily I bought the warranty for 9.99 and they sent me a check for the full value. I need another one now that we are getting ready to take that trip again. I am leaning towards this model with the warranty again. The sony is nice, but doesn't come equipped with all the car features.

the best Audio sound without using headphones,

I brought the first portable Audiovox that came out many years ago. It lasted many years and many hours of usage. It only broke down recently. I brought another one, a different named brand. I returned it. It just didn't have the sound that the Audiovox did. With the Audiovox you really don't need the headphones at all, the sound comes loud and cleared, although the headphones enhanced the sound. I did researching, and found that this Audiovox has the best audio coming through on the portable DVD, especially on this model. Its because its has 4 speakers, 2 on the top and 2 on the bottom. If you want to relax at home or in bed, without having to have headphones on, this is the model to get. It's also user friendly, I loved it!! The original model was made better, heavier, and not so filmsy and worked well, just like this latest model..but, the first one I paid more money. I hope they continued to make models like this one with great audio sounds without using the headphones. I find headphones are too constricting when you just want to relax.

I heavily debated between this model and a pricier Sony model. Glad I went with this one! Great bang for your buck! I bought this dvd player based on cost, reviews, and it came with all the stuff you need it to: TWO sets of headphones, an AV jack thingy so you can hook it up on hotel tv's if needed, a car charger, a wall charger, a remote control and a mounting bag for the car. This all mounted up to a great deal for a portable dvd player for the prime user: a 5 year old boy! Once I figured out how to mount the bag on the back of the car seat, we were in business! The top mount string is a little tight for my Jeep Liberty (the headrests don't extend), but it works! The remote works really well...I just have to point it in the general direction to get the DVD going from the driver's seat. I can't speak to the durability yet, as we have only owned it for a week or so, but it has a nice picture and decent sound. The storage bag has a zippered pocket that works excellent for the chargers and headphones so I don't have any reason to lose them! I really don't think you can go wrong with this DVD player!Oh, and by the way, my son is CRAZY happy about this DVD player! July 2009 Update: This DVD player is still doing very well. We have had NO major issues or any minor ones for that matter. Seems to be very sturdy. My son has even figured out all of the buttons and he can start his movies by himself now.

Great All-Purpose DVD Player,

I bought this product becuase I was looking for a DVD player to have for a week long road trip and then again for a cross-country airplane trip with our two year old. The picture is great, the volume is great, and it was durable. We have had no problems with the device. I did a lot of research and you couldn't find more bang for your buck. If you are a traveler with kids you want convenient, multi-purpose, and small. This fit the ticket with the carrying case that holds all the wires, headphones, remotes, and DVD's. It also has a rechargable battery so you can take it out of the car and carry it onto an airplane for a short trip. I love that it is easily put over the headrest in the car and still looks great too. I thought the screen was going to be too small, but it wasn't at all and I was thankful we didn't get anything bigger. The best part is that even if the kiddo does tear up the player in a year, I still feel like I got my moneys worth. I highly reccomend this product if you have kids and want a quality product that doesn't cost much.

I don't think you'll find a better value when it comes to portable DVD players.PROS: Value This unit will play burned DVD's (DVD+R at least and I'm sure it'll play the other recordable media as well) Double headphones with decent sound quality Plays nice and loud without the headphones Folds nicely behind the seat of your car without leaving the case it's stored in CONS: Battery life is much shorter than I hoped (lasted just over one movie) When connected to the car charger it does not charge the battery if the unit is running (just enough power to play) EDIT: THIS THING DIED AFTER ABOUT 5 MONTHS OF VERY LIGHT USE. LOOK ELSEWHERE FOR A DVD PLAYER!

We purchased this so my two year old could watch movies in the car on long trips to grandmas. Screen has a crystal clear picture. The only down side is that the dvd holder that is able to be attached to the back of the headrests. The strap that goes around the seat is to long. We put an elastic headband around the top of the dvd holder to keep it in place and that works just fine. Depite that minor set back I would recommend this product.

This is a nice product. I have had a hard time trying to find a portable dvd player with a package deal. It has a nice carrying case that comes with it and also two nice headsets, a charger for the house, and a car charger.

I bought this portable dvd player for my 2 year old daughter for long 4 hour drives to see her pappy. I could not be happier. The quality of the screen is unbelievable and the volume is a lot louder then I expected. I have also been told by my husband that the headphones are clear as a bell. I hightly recommend this dvd player!!

I bought this item in Feb. 2008. The picture and sound were great, but the car adapter did not fit snugly into our car's (Volvo) cigarette lighter/power unit, so it would constantly pop out in the middle of the movie, and we would have to start the movie over again. It would often blow the fuse in the power unit, and we'd have to pull over to change the fuse. We couldn't sustain the dvd player on battery life because our trips (about once/month to grandparents' houses) were 6-8 hours. Eventually, we ended up taping the adapter to the power unit with electrical tape, but this didn't always hold. Finally, the dvd player died after about 10 months. Since the warranty is only 90 days, we'll have to buy another...it won't be an Audiovox.
