I specifically looked for a portable DVD player which transmitted sound via infrared, was very flexible/rich in features, all for less than $[...]. This was the only match I could find. This DVD player is very portable, transmits sound via infrared and is very flexible. One can use this as a TV by sending the TV signal into the DT85 via RCA connections(yellow, red, white end cables). One can send camcorder video into the DT85 and use it as a screen to view the video. Likewise one can send digital camera pictures into the DT85 and use it as a screen to view the pictures on. Put the camera on slidshow and you have a digital picture frame. Any RCA connection I believe would work on the DT85. One can also send the DVD video out to a TV via the RCA connections. I really like features like this so to me this was one of the best features. To make use of the infrared I bought infrared headphones for my 3 kids(6yrs, 3yrs, 2yrs old) [...] ($[...]). The sound was very good I thought and worked as I had hoped. I don't recall the distance the infrared would transmit but I don't think it would transmit the distance the spec says it should. For me that was fine because I wanted it for the car mainly, 10 feet was fine. I can't give it a 5 star because a the DT85 froze 2 times in the 12 hours that we played it. Simple reboot fixed that problem and play was resumed where it stopped.
