4.0 out of 5 stars Good little Radio's Range is Nice
This is my 2nd pair of frs radio's. The other set was a uniden set which lasted over 2 yrs. I have had this pair for almost 2 weeks now. They are simple to use. Easy on and off buttons, push buttons for channel change and volume control. Range has been tested to about 1 mile flat line of sight. It was clear as if you were only a couple feet away. If you are looking for a...

3.0 out of 5 stars Fair entry level FRS
I bought these during a recent trip to Canada where I had used them mainly up to date. It looks to me that, even if it includes just entry level functions, it provides a very good sound quality at very good price. I had used them only in a range of about 1.0-1.5 km but also in plain land and in the mountains and in this range I had never tx/rx problems.

If you are looking for a simple set of talkies, this is the way to go. The only thing I didn't like was the warranty was only 90 days.

I think for someone who only wants simple talkie function. This is the way to go. There are others that have tons of bells and whistles, but this set is simple to use. 14 Channel easy to select. Pretty much pop the batteries in and set channel and go.

This review is from: Audiovox FR5312 2-Mile 14-Channel FRS Two-Way Radio (Pair) (Electronics)
I bought these radios so I could keep track of my son when he was outside playing. They never reached two miles, first of all. And he is rough, so that may account for how "beat up" they got soon after we got them. They drain batteries like I don't know what. We had to change them (4 per radio) every week, it seemed, even if we only used the radios on the weekends. For the price I paid for them, I could have just added a few more dollars and bought a better pair that can be recharged. That's what I'm doing now and what I suggest others do before wasting the $40 on these.
