This pair of GMRS7015RC two-way radios have a 15-mile range that makes them an ideal communication tool, whether you are on a neighborhood watch, at a park with the kids, or spending weeks hiking through the deep-woods trails.
Each state-of-the-art GMRS7015RC radio provides you with 15 GMRS and seven FRS channels for a total of 22 channels which, when combined with their 38 privacy codes per channel, provides you with 836 combinations to help eliminate interference. This large number of channel/privacy-code combinations means you can almost always talk to your friends and family with an exclusive, private uninterrupted signal. What's more, each unit has a built-in racecar receiver/scanner so you can listen in to race drivers' chatter when you are at the track. These easy-to-use radios feature full electronic controls, as well as a user-selectable Voice Operated Transmitter (VOX) that can be used for automatic voice transmission, for when you need hassle-free, hands-free operation. As an added convenience, the GMRS7015RC radios include built-in, high-intensity LED flashlights, and two sets of comfortable headphones that fold up and come with their own carrying case for easy storage when not in use.
The GMRS7015RC also features a scan function which lets you browse through channels while watching the display until you find an active one, so channels are easy to find. These radios include a channel monitor function that listens for weak signals on a given channel with the press of a key, and a backlit LCD display that is easy to read under any lighting conditions. These radios are powered by rechargeable NiMH batteries that offer long-standby times, and multiple recharging sessions without developing a memory. The Audiovox GMRS7015RC six-mile radios come with a dual desktop charger so you can charge both units simultaneously, and swiveling belt clips with a quick release for easy carrying and hands-free usage. By purchacing these radios, I saved a ton of money since I did not have to buy or rent good high quality scanners for my two boys. They were clear and loud enough since we used ear buds instead of the supplied headphones since the races are extreamly loud and that worked great. All in all if you do not go to the races much and do not want to invest in a high dollar scanner, this is the way to go.

Overall, this is an mediocre scanner. Functionally, it is a bit clumsy and not the easiest to figure out how to use various functions. I primarily use these to listen to drivers during NASCAR races. Unfortunately, the volume control is not great and they pick up quite a bit of static; making it hard to hear what the drivers are talking about. The headphones that come with these are terrible; just some cheap foam covered headphones. I figured I could plug in my own, high quality, headphones but that was not the case. If you do not use the cheap ones that came with the scanner, the scanner will cease to function (literally the buttons will not respond). On the bright side, the desk charger is nice. Having rechargeable batteries ensures that you will have ample power. I haven't ever had an issue with them running out of power. It is also a plus that they come as a set so you don't have to use a splitter and share with someone else. If given the opportunity to purchase these again, I would probably spend a bit more money and get a higher quality product.

I attend a few NASCAR races a year and scanner rentals can get expensive. I purchased these and they did the job. I did buy separate earbuds and noise canceling headphones for better sound quality.
