4.0 out of 5 stars FCC license required!!!!
We got these for Christmas, and are very pleased with them. We haven't tested out the range yet, but were counting on a slightly wider range than the 6-mile ones (which reviewers found to have a 1-mile range).

I thought it was a little strange that we were required to apply for an FCC license. I just went online to do this, and was surprised to find that it...

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay
I think with ALL these 2 mile + walkie-talkie brands, the ONLY reason they DO NOT REACH their SAID RANGE is because the USERS don't GET THEIR FCC LISCENSES! THE RANGE ONLY WORKS IF YOU HAVE AN FCC LISCENSE! IF YOU AREN'T WILLING TO GET THE LISCENSE, DON'T COMPLAIN ABOUT THE WALKIE-TALKIE RANGE.

I thought it was a little strange that we were required to apply for an FCC license. I just went online to do this, and was surprised to find that it costs $80. In addition, the online registration process is confusing and time-consuming. Regardless of whether having a license affects the performance of the unit, Amazon should have made a much larger note of it. For Pete's sake, the license costs more than the radios do.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Audiovox GMRS9010 10-Mile 22-Channel FRS/GMRS Two-Way Radio (Pair) (Electronics)
just to let u know, im not a kid, but i couldnt remember wut the hell my password was. but heres my review: PROS-nice freatures, good range, charger, earbud mics, the LED light is really bright-i was pretty suprised.
CONS-scan fuction is really slow, the LED light on 1 of the radios only worked once, wouldnt work again.
I got about 5 miles going through thick brush, trees and going over the biggest hills u can imagine. i recommend theses radios.
im going to exchange the radios i have for some that have the WORKING LED light.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Walkies!, March 20, 2006
This review is from: Audiovox GMRS9010 10-Mile 22-Channel FRS/GMRS Two-Way Radio (Pair) (Electronics)
These walkies are great! Have not had any problems. These things work for the full 10-miles and more, if the wind conditions are right. If you are looking for a reliable set of walkies, these are the ones for you.
