4.0 out of 5 stars Screen does NOT detach!
Be aware that the screen is NOT detachable from the DVD player, like the title and description would have you believe.

However, a second monitor can be slaved to it.

The unit works wonderfully. Excellent volume levels. The buttons, remote, and screen all work very well! You have to make sure you use the proper transformer. We ordered the unit with a second screen...

1.0 out of 5 stars item does not exist
eddie bauer dvd player with a 5" detachable screen is not an item that is even manufactured. Eddie bauer dvd player is an audiovox dvd player with a signature of eddie bauer. This item has a fixed screen which cannot be removed from the unit.

The unit works wonderfully. Excellent volume levels. The buttons, remote, and screen all work very well! You have to make sure you use the proper transformer. We ordered the unit with a second screen. After 30 frustrating minutes, we discovered that the 12V adapter that comes with the second screen will NOT work to power the DVD player.

If you use the supplied DIN connector to slave a second screen onto this player, the second screen does not need its own seperate power source.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad investment, November 25, 2004

This DVD player worked for about 20 hours, then stopped playing DVDs. It had a 3 month warranty. There is no repair site in the instruction book. We won't purchase any electronics with an Eddie Bauer name on it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worked great -- for a while, July 22, 2004

I bought this DVD player from Target in November 2003 for $349. I never noticed it only had a 90-day warranty. It's worked great -- until now. This week (7/04) I turned it on and I could hear the DVD spinning, but the screen was dark. My worst fear realized! My two-year-old has come to love Elmo in the car. I used this DVD player nearly every day. So...about 8 months after purchasing this DVD player, I have the option of throwing it away and starting over (which I can't afford), or shipping it to Audiovox and paying $95 in the hopes they can fix it (they will return the $95 if they can't fix it). If they can fix it, then there will only be another short 90-day warranty period. I would recommend this DVD player ONLY if you are able to buy an extended warranty with it. Based on some of the other reviews I've seen where this product failed not long after the warranty period expired, it seems like an extended warranty would be a wise purchase. I notice that the extended warranty option is not available on this product through target.com at this time...buyer beware.

1.0 out of 5 stars Eddie Bauer DVD Plauer, January 11, 2004

We are a military family and purchased this DVD player in preparation for a large move. I researched several portable players on the market and selected this model based upon reviews and the convenient carrying case. The player worked well for the 15 hour road trip. However, one week after purchase, the player stopped working. I exchanged the item at a different Target for a brand new player. One week later, it stopped working also. I thought it would be impossible to get another bad one. However, three days later, the new one stopped working. I spoke with the clerk at the return counter and she advised me that several had been returned since Christmas. I contacted the Target home office and they advised me that there were no known problems with the item. I would not recommend this player. After 3 bad players, I purchased the Kawasaki DVD player sold at Target and have had no problems.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Amazing!, December 27, 2003

I have done extensive research of the portable DVD machines and this one by far blows the others out of the water! The picture is crystal clear, and the volume has got the best out there. I bought another brand for our kids for Christmas and you could not hardly here the movies due to the lack of volume it had. This DVD also provides you with 2 jack outlets, which is nice if you want 2 people to join in on the movie/game option! I wanted our portable DVD to be as flexible as possible... and that it does! It even allows you the option to add another screen for a nomial additional cost. We were discussing just buying one already installed in our new vehicle, the portability was just too nice to pass up though. So, I highly reccomend this model, it is well worth the money and even nicer if you happen to catch it on sale as I did for $299. Enjoy, I know that we have!

5.0 out of 5 stars great for trips, December 9, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Audiovox Mobile Video System (Electronics)
We bought this model two months ago, and so far it has been on three long trips and has worked perfectly. Our kids love it, and it has made our road trips much more enjoyable. The only disappointment was that the screen does NOT detach as stated in the description, but the unit hangs well between the seats with the adjustable straps. The picture and sound are good even though the screen is on the smaller side. The screen is viewed best head-on, as it is not very clear viewed from an angle. Very nice carrying bag included as well. Definitely recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Way to Quiet the Kids!, August 21, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Audiovox Mobile Video System (Electronics)
We bought this DVD player for a recent road trip because it was a nicer looking unit than the other bulkier ones on the market. It performed well on the trip and continues to perform well. It truly does keep the normal kids noise factor down when you put in a DVD. I'm glad we purchased this portable instead of getting one installed in the ceiling or headrests because we can transport this into our other car too! You'll be happy with this one!
