5.0 out of 5 stars Not Disappointed
The Unit is good looking, has a solid feel, uses actual aluminum in the case. The buttons work great, a super nice display that is backlit also. I've had it for a couple of weeks. The sound is great, plenty of volume. I wish it was USB, but the parallel port is relatively fast for onboard memory, but downloading to the multimedia chip is a lot slower. (It only seems to...

3.0 out of 5 stars OK for Free, but not for $150!
I received this on the internet for free and am very pleased with it. Although, I can say that because I didn't have to spend the amount others did. For $150, it really isn't that wonderful of a deal. I found out 32 MB doesn't go to far for MP3's and to upgrade another 32 MB is almost another $100! But the sound is good, the options are nice, and I don't know why...

(It only seems to know about 32 MB MMC cards, but I'm using a 16 MB card, and have to do the calculations myself to see if what I'm downloading will fit.) Printer Port must be set to ECP. The software is okay. It was easy to setup and start using almost immediately. The documentation is first rate. Like everyone, I wish you could store hours and hours, but for what it is, it's excellent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Player, May 9, 2000

This is the greatest mp3 player out there. It is easy to use and the software is great. I was thinking of getting the Rave but my friend got one and said that it didn't hold half the music that is said it would. If you are thinking of getting a mp3 player I would get this one. It is the best and at such a low price. Great Player, cool headphones, and a cool leather case to protect it.

4.0 out of 5 stars 1 problem, April 28, 2000
This review is from: Audiovox MP-1000 MPDJ MP3 Player (Electronics)
I only found one problem with this player and this is why I didn't give it a 5 star. My LCD screen doesnt work right. Half of the screen doesnt come up Im not sure if its just this player but i have heard from someone else that this happened to them to. If this doesnt clear up im going to send it back. Other than that though its great. The earbuds are surprisinly good. Leather case is nice so it doesnt get messed up in anyway. Very light and small size. The software is also very easy to use. Took me around 5 to 10 minutes to get my mp3s on to the player including installing the software. Very good player for the money

As you probably know Audiovox ran out of the memory cards for this unit! I have tried almost all the sandisk multimedia cards and the 16meg card works. Amazon sells them. This 16meg card allows me to add 3-6 more songs. The sandisk 24 and the 32 meg did not work. I called sandisk and they could not give me an answer. The player is Great, just waiting for the WMA upgrade. I highly recomend this player. The sound is super, headphones good quality and the software is fine. Go download the CDEX 1.3 beta8 mp3 converter. You will be able to reduce the size of you're MP3's with little reduction in sound quality. I liked the windows codec and the 96 Blane code c. Have fun.

4.0 out of 5 stars warning-memory-warning, November 17, 2000

I recently purchased the audiovox mp1000 because of the small size and ease of operation. I also bought additional memory with a 32mb sandisk mmc card which didn't work, so I sent it back and recieved another one which also didn't work. Discussing this with audiovox, they have had alot trouble with sandisk mmc... but not with the audiovox memory card.... a suspicious person might wonder why this would be, as they look identical. A memory disk from audiovox is coming but I thought this may be important information for someone interested in the same scenario.

1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY THIS!, January 4, 2003

I purchased the MP-1000 about a year ago and it worked great. It still does, as long as I keep a computer with Windows 98 or ME. I realized it DOES NOT work with XP after I upgraded. With most new computers coming with XP, the older operating systems will fade away. This MP3 player will go with them. Audiovox discontinued it and has no plans on making it compatible with XP. Now I have to go buy another player. Save yourself the hassle. This thing is now worthless.

So, if you're looking to buy this, I would suggest you look around a little more, I'm sure there is something out there better for the price.

1.0 out of 5 stars No Longer upgrades with MMC cards, January 3, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Audiovox MP-1000 MPDJ MP3 Player (Electronics)
I purchased 3 Audiovox MP1000 mp3 players as Christmas gifts. I also purchased additional 32MB Sandisk MMC cards. These cards do not work. Audiovox blamed Sandisk for changing their MMC cards, but Sandisk says it is the Audiovox MP3 player. Even Audiovox, no longer has compatible MMC cards since, Sandisk makes the MMC cards for them. Specifically, Sandisk says that "The Audiovox player does not follow the MMC Multiblock read specifications correctly." In the mean time I have contacted Audiovox twice, and have been assured that I will get a return phone call from the customer service supervisor. No return call in over 10 days. I am currently on hold waiting for 1 hour on their 800 customer complaint line, still waiting to speak to the next available representative. I am hoping that Audiovox will stand by their mp3 player and their claim that they can be upgraded with any 32MB MMC card. As it stands now, I have 3 mp3 players that, although they have great sound and are easy to use, they can only hold about 8 songs and can not be upgraded with any currently available MMC card. I am very dissapointed. I'm sure that I am not alone and that many people purchased these players due to the great reviews we read and the information provided on Audiovox's website and on their package. We were mislead, and I hope this review helps others, so that they are aware that they are buying a player that at the moment can only play 32MB of music and is not upgradable.
