Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

The Audiovox MP6610FM 1GB MP3 Player with FM Radio is a convenient MP3 player and an FM radio player all in one. This compact unit has plenty of room for you to take your favorite music with you, and plenty of features to make sure you get the most out of listening to it -- with the added benefit of letting you listen to the radio for specific programs you don't want to miss, traffic updates, news reports, or just those times when you want to hear something new.

The Audiovox MP6610FM has a super-bright, built-in OLED (organic liquid-crystal display) display that uses technology with smaller carbon-based molecules to create a screen that is brighter, thinner, lighter, and faster than normal LCD displays, providing you with not only a smaller player, but a screen that is more easily viewed in bright lighting conditions, and at greater angles. This display screen indicates song information, battery level, play mode, elapsed time, and FM frequency, and it also features a user-adjustable back light that can be set to 10, 20, or 30 seconds.

This Audiovox MP3 player and radio tuner allows you to preset up to 20 channels for fast FM station navigation, has a built-in equalizer with presets for rock, jazz, classic, and pop, and includes ID-3 tag support so it can display and sort your music by artist, album, title, year, and genre. This unit features an intuitive 6-key control that allows for: play/pause, stop, power on/off, skip forward/backward, memory, and volume up/down. The MP6610FM also features a hold knob to deactivate buttons so they don't accidentally get pressed while the player is in a pocket, and a sleep timer to save on battery when the unit is not in use. And in case something does go wrong or you have a momentary problem, there is a recessed button that can be pressed to manually reset the player regardless of what is happening.

The Audiovox MP6610FM has one gigabyte of embedded memory that can hold up to an average of 250 songs when compressed at 128 kbps, is compatible with MP3, WMA, and protected WMA (DRM10) music file formats, and has an FM range of 87.5 to 108.0 MHz. This unit requires Windows 98SE, ME, 2000, or XP for PC connectivity, and is powered by its built-in, rechargeable 3.7-volt lithium-ion battery. This MP3 player includes a high-speed USB 2.0 connection for quickly transferring songs and charging the battery, and a headphone jack for the included earbuds. The MP6610FM has a signal-to-noise ratio of 90 dB, an output frequency of 20 to 20,000 Hz, and a maximum output of 2 x 7mW through the earphones. This unit weighs only 0.71 ounces, and measures only 2.3 x 0.6 x 1.34 inches (W x H x D).

4.0 out of 5 stars A good buy, May 2, 2007
I got my player and it was easy to use right away. I had to charge the battery before loading it up with songs. It's not even close to full at 96 songs. The only problem is the battery only lasts for about 3 hours. It's not good for all day rocking out, but it's good for short listens. I got it to play music with a tape adapter in my car since I'm sick of dealing with CDs while driving. I used a portable cd player with a cassette adapter before. I would still buy it, but the battery really needs to last at least as long as 2 AAs.

4.0 out of 5 stars Small and Light - But Non-Standard USB Connector, August 6, 2007
I love the fact that this unit is so lightweight. I am glad that it comes with an easily programmed FM tuner so that I can listen to local content as well as my MP3s. I also am pleased with the Lanyard that comes with the MP6610FM. It has the earbud headphones built in so you don't have to worry about another cable dangling.

I use this when biking and once it's on, I don't even notice that something is around my neck. For this, it has been perfect.

My one complaint is that the unit uses a proprietary connector for the USB. I was expecting a simple USB-B connector (of which I have a number of cables). However, this one is different. I fear that if I lose it, I will not only be unable to put different music on the unit, but the device will no longer be usable because the MP6610FM recharges its battery through this USB port.
