5.0 out of 5 stars Very Handy Gadget
I wish I would have known about this great unit many years ago! I had cable running to many rooms, but only a single DSS receiver unit. With the D940, I can control my DSS receiver from any room I need. I'm glad the response time is extremely quick when using this system. It is just like having the DSS receiver right in the room. The units do a great job picking up...

3.0 out of 5 stars Imperfect Reception
Works as advertised for the most part... I have the device where the stereo it controls was, and it will occasionally miss a signal that would have been picked up. Somewhat of a minor annoyance since we use a programmable remote. If you can put up with that, it does transmit as advertised.

With the D940, I can control my DSS receiver from any room I need. I'm glad the response time is extremely quick when using this system. It is just like having the DSS receiver right in the room. The units do a great job picking up the signal from the remote, even from a fairly sharp range of angles. An added bonus: This works with nearly any remote audio/video equipment.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works great, March 30, 2005
This review is from: Audiovox D940 Remote Control Signal Sender (Electronics)
I have had this for four months now. Not only am I using it for my satellite service, but it also sends the IR signal for my DVD, VCR, and Receiver. It must cast a very wide IR beam because all my equipment is on a 5 foot rack and with the receiving unit placed at about 1.5 feet from the bottom and only 2.5 feet away, its able to cover all the components. Also, the range is good, even through walls. I am actually buying two more sending units (D935) to put in the basement and my home office so that I can control everything remotely. I've tried it through walls at a direct liner distance of about 20-25 feet. I'm not sure what the advantages are of the more expensive units, but this works great for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Great!, December 3, 2007

This item works perfectly with my Direct TV box and two TVs. I can now change channels, etc on my bedroom TV via my Direct TV box in the living room (about 50 feet). I have the receiver base control sitting about 15+ feet from the Direct TV box with no problems. It took about 5 minutes to plug in each unit and all was done! I am using a programmable remote as the extra remote for the bedroom TV. Very nice product ... Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Remote Extender, August 23, 2007

The RCA D940 works as advertised. You do have to be very close (within 4ft)to the signal sender and your hand held remote. From the sender to the receiver the distance can be over 100ft traveling through walls from room to room and outdoors to indoors.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best I could find, but still not perfect..., July 2, 2007

I read several reviews before buying this remote extender, and this is the best I could find. There are the more professional models from specialized companies, but these are quite a lot more expensive and usually not RF. The two main issues with this remote are the range (like all these RF devices, the range drops dramatically as soon as the signal needs to go therough walls) and the receiver sensitivity. That second issue is kind of strange. The receiver cannot work if it is more than about 10 feet from the remote. If it is farther than that, the LED on the receiver still blinks when I press the remote, but the signal does not seem to get to the transmitter (the one near the sound system).
Overall it is still a very useful device, but there is room for improvement.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!, February 7, 2007

Exactly what I needed to avoid paying for an extra satellite receiver. I previously used a splitter to send the signal coming from my basement receiver to an upstairs bedroom, but had to run downstairs to change the channel. Now with the RCA unit, I can change channels from the bedroom. Of course it helps that I have an extra remote from a deactivated receiver to keep in the bedroom. The RCA unit transmits through walls and floors with no problem. I don't notice any time delay at all. The units are actually quite small and unobtrusive (maybe 3 inches tall), so my fears of having big ugly cone things on display were unfounded.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding, January 13, 2007

The Remote Control signal sender was purchased to control our church's projector from the back of the church. The original remote would only work a few feet from the front of the projector. After plugging it in and adjusting for a clear path from sender to receiver it works like a charm.

I put a TV in my kitchen but wanted to share the reciever with the TV in my room since I would hardly ever use both at the same time. I tried one from radio shack that didn't work we at all and was more expensive than this one - I am very pleased.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great remote extender, November 24, 2010

This is a great remote extender. Use it to change tv's hooked to the same box. It can travel easily through the plastic walls. There really doesn't seem to be lag time.
