The device features a dock in the center that holds the Audiovox SIR-PNP3 Sirius tuner (sold separately), along with a pair of integrated 5-watt speakers. When combined, the boombox and tuner receive programming that ranges from commercial-free music to news broadcasts to sports talk to children's shows. And unlike many traditional shelf systems, the SIR-BB3 won't weigh you down, as it comes in at a sleek 5.88 pounds. To ensure quality reception, the boombox comes with a high-gain antenna (with a 20-foot cord) that can mount on both horizontal and vertical surfaces either indoors or outdoors. It also offers an AC adapter for indoor use. When you go outside, simply plug in eight D-cell batteries and you're prepared for hours of portable radio listening. Additional features include a headphone jack and a 3.5 mm auxiliary input for connecting to a portable audio device such as an iPod or CD player.

Listeners will need to purchase the SIR-PNP3 tuner and a subscription to Sirius to enjoy satellite radio programming on the boombox.

Here is the new and updated version of the SIR-BB2! Since they do not make the BB2 anymore, this is what you want if you have the PNP3 as it'll allow you to take the boombox anywhere! Note, the PNP2 and other Sirius receivers will not work with this, only the PNP3.

Improvements include a better and lounder volume so that if you're outside you'll hear the program much better! The volume is adjusted by either pushing a down or up button. Also it's not as "thick" as the BB2.

Plug in some D Cell batteries and you can go portable with it!

It includes an adapter to plug in, and 20 wire and antenna for reception. Note many with Sirius have to put the antenna just outside their window facing the appropriate direction (read directions). And everyone can get reception, it's just a matter of proper antenna placement.

You may want to look into getting the 50 foot Sirius antenna extension cable (see above for item information) to connect both antenna wire and boombox. You can connect up to 2 of them making a total of 125 feet of antenna wire.

And Sirius lineup, you'll never be able to find something you cannot listen to! And with Sirius you also can listen to Sirius online FREE when you signup! Sirius has 65 commercial free music channels, TWO NPR channels, Talk channels (Patriot, Right, Left, Air America, Talk Central, OutQ) and spanish along with Radio Classics (Lone Ranger, Suspense, Dragnet, etc.) and more! Exclusive include Howard Stern starting January 2006, Maxim Radio talk (Mens Magazine) channel, Eminem Shade 45 channel (uncut hip-hop), over 40 NBA games per week, NHL, Tony Hawks Domolition Radio, Barclays English League Soccer, All Division I Mens Basketball.

The trick to finding what's on and when is to look online at the channel lineup for times or listen to Sirius information channel 184 or better yet, stay tuned to the channel you like!

Sports, Sirius is the only one that has a 24/7 NFL channel that has each and every NFL game including your hometown broadcast feed! NASCAR will be exclusive to Sirius starting in 2007!

I challenge anyone to find this cheaper than Amazon with free shipping and no tax. It won't happen!

I love listening to sirius in my office during the day. The channels I like to listen to are Court TV and CNN, which are not available via the computer. The only down side to the boombox is that there is no carrying handle. There is a place to put one's hand, but it is not conducive to carrying. It is perfect if you are going to put in one place and keep it there.

The Audiovox SIR-BB3 Sirius Satellite Radio Boombox is a wonderful alternative to the Audiovox home shuttle docking station. With the boombox, you can take the Sirius Radio Shuttle anywhere you want. You are not locked into your home stereo. It is convenient to take to the beach or on a picnic.
It operates on house current (for in home use) or batteries for outside use. The boombox has a very nice sound to it, even though there aren't any bass or treble controls. The speaker seperation is very good. The volume can be controlled from buttons on the boombox or through the shuttle with the remote control. Overall, I really like the boombox and feel it is money well spent if you already have a Sirius shuttle.
