One of the best Sat Radio receivers currently available.,

I love the SIR-PNP3 so much that I immediately bought a second one. And then a third one, two months later! The PNP3 is the 3rd generation of this Audiovox Sirius "shuttle" receiver, and SIRIUS and Audiovox have hit a grand slam home run with the PNP3. The display on the PNP3 is the brightest and clearest of any SIRIUS (or XM receiver) that I've seen. I haven't listened to AM or FM at all since I started my SIRIUS subscription. I use the Audiovox SIR-PNP3 both in the car and the home. The wireless FM transmitter is of high quality and mighty: You can set up the PNP3 in one room, and simultaneously listen to SIRIUS through any and all of your FM radio receivers located in nearby rooms, (at broadcast distances of upwards of 100 feet in my experience.) And, if you are someone who doesn't yet know much about satellite radio: SIRIUS is better than XM: Absolutely True!

Smashing performance,

If you don't own a Sirius radio yet may I suggest you log on to your favorite electronic store site now and buy one. I got my PNP3 today, hooked it up in my Eclipse in about 15 mins, ran the antenna wire in less than that, logged onto the Sirius site to activate and have been listening to pretty much anything I want ever since.
(For those with an Eclipse here is a tip for install, I had a tough time finding a location for the radio and finally realized I could drill two small mounting holes right into the ashtray and bolted it right to the lid of the tray. Once it was bolted on and the angle was adjusted, I placed the ashtray back into the holder and voila! a nice mounting location and no damage to any expensive parts so when I sell the car all I have to do is replace the cheap ashtray. Wiring the antenna was a sinch-rear roof mounted it, ran the wire into the car through the hatchback and then easily tucked it into the headliner and ran it along the rubber molding, inside the fuse box to get it under the dash and then ran it along the underside of the existing dash wiring and into the center console. ) Anyhow, the sound is superior to the regular FM radio even when using the modulator. This little unit really sounds great. Not the Audiovox of my younger years by any means. This is a very good quality product. Channel choices are nice and the display options are great-you can view channel choices by channel name or you can view the artist and/or song that is playing on each channel so you can decide what you want to listen to at that moment. The unit has very user-friendly and logical functions. It's compact size forces some buttons to be a bit small, but not to the point of being unusable by any means. I took a drive tonight to test it out and the stations were rock solid-I live in a rural area. Reception around my town and in the country didn't fade once. I can't wait to hear Howard on Sirius along with the many other talk shows, comedy shows, special news shows and, of course, music. This is amazing technology at an amazingly low price. GET ONE NOW!!!!

Step UP from the PNP2, GREAT Price!!!,

A definate step up from the PNP2. The PNP3 has a 2.5 G chip that does not burn as hot as the PNP2 (you'll notice the difference after the radio is on for several hours), the screen is a bit larger (great for viewing across the room), , 2 different fonts you can use, it's a LOT sleeker than the PNP2. I think the most beneficial change is that the remote allows you to work the volume, where they the previous you had keep getting up to change it. Plus you can dim the brightness of the screen or set it for auto dim.
Sports fans will like this new feature. It has a "sports zone" (not this is not listed on the box or directions, BUT it's in EVERY PNP3) which allows you to view each and every NFL, NHL, NBA or NCAA game playing along with the current score, and current time in the game. ALL of this without even switching the currnet channel you're on! To view this, say suppose you're listening to something but are wondering what channelor the score a NBA or NFL (I'll use those two as an example) is on. You go to category and just scroll (using remote or right on the receiver) through the categories and right at the end after traffic (or before pop as you can scroll backwords) Sirius AUTOMATICALLY lumps the current games being played into the league (example all the NFL games on one screen, NBA on another, NCAA on another, and so on). Then you highlight the game you want info on and it'll show you. All of this without changing the current channel on or missing a beat of the music! And if you like the game, you just hit the select button and you go to that game on Sirius! So no more switching through channels to see what channel that game is on or wondering the score. Just go to the Sirius game zone and you'll find out that information right away! And don't forget about Howard Stern coming Jan, 1, 2006 excusive to Sirius! Other talk programs include (but are not limited to) Jay Thomas, G. Gordon Liddy, Rusty Humphries, MAXIM Talk Channel, Out Q (Gay Talk channel), Air America, Tony Snow, Laura Ingram, and MANY more!!! You want music? Sirius has EVERY TYPE of music you can think of commercial free! There is a 24/7 Elvis channel that broadcasts LIVE from Graceland 24/7, Top 20 hits, 5 different country music channels with varius types of country music, ten different Rock channels, Hip hop channels, Pop, classical, Jazz, dance, Latin&World and more! You want news? There are ten differnet news channels including FOX news, CNN, NPR and more! From England and miss English Soccer? Wake up early Saturday AM (time change has you up around 6:00 AM Eastern) and you'll hear LIVE games from Europe! There are two differnet comedy channels which have nothing but comedy 24/7. One channel is a "clean" the other is "X" rated comedy. The PNP3 has a Song Seek feature that allows you to mark your favorite songs so that anytime in the future the song is played on Sirius on ANY channel, it'll beep to let you know it's being played and what channel it's on! There is also a FM Broadcast feature which allows the unit to broadcast on a FM frequency. Meaning you can have the receiver playing in one room, and in another room turn any FM radio onto a channel that's not used and listen to what's on your Sirius! Note you must select a FM channel that's not used in your area and the range for this is only a few rooms, but that's enough for most places. This feature is better in the PNP3 than in the PNP2 as with the PNP3 it's always on and easier to use and activate. Did I mention the ability to store up to 31 preset stations? That's ten for A setting, ten for B setting and ten for C setting and one Jump station! And a dimming or auto dim feature which allows you to set the screen brightness to your level of ease. Meaning if you like it bright or have sensative eyes and went it dim. Then you set it to your liking! It has an alarm, snooze button, auto off so that you can go to sleep and have it turn off at a set time, and even a button to allow you to switch back to the previous channel you were on! For travelers, there's a jump button that automatically seeks out travel information (detours, jamms, weather, etc.). You'll also need either a homekit or carkit (depending on where you want to listen), or you can use the receiver both home and auto by simply removing it when you go home/car. OR you can purchase the SIRPBB3...the boombox for the PNP3...NOTE the SIRBB1-2 boombox will NOT fit this PNP3 as the connections are different. Understand that this PNP3 uses a 2.5 G chip (the brains of the unit) and the PNP2 used a 2.0 chip. The 2.0 chips are not being made anymore, so that once all the PNP2 are gone, that's it. And again the reason is that the 2.5 G chips are made better to not get as hot and play better. And I didn't even get into all the stations Sirius has! For a comlete listing, go to: http://www.sirius.com And look at the prices, you won't find any lower a price around than here!! Add all of this together along with Sirius programming and you have yourself one heck of a receiver!

Will never listen to regular radio again,

Sirius Satallite Radio is probably one of the best purchases I've made in years. This has something for everyone..even truck drivers. What I like about it is the commercial free, uncensored music and of course Howard Stern.
the reciever gets warm, which I thought was a bit weird. Other than that I had no problem with it. The reception however, is horrible and drove me absolutly nuts. dont bother purchasing Sirius without an antenna. I purchased the Terk SIR6 Outdoor Home Antenna and I'll update it on how it improved UPDATE: Reception is horrible where I live...even with the new antenna...if you live in an area with trees, and you have no roof access, dont bother getting sirius satallite radio. Pisses me off that I didnt do the homework that I should have before I bought all of this

I purchased this receiver just after Christmas and I couldn't be happier. Extremely user friendly once installed(which is good because the manual is somewhat confusing). I especially like the scrolling knob and simple remote that makes things easy. I installed the antenna right on my dashboard up near the front of the windshield and I have perfect reception (I'm in the St. Louis metro area). I recommend purchasing the home kit as well. I did and I have it using the FM modulator to use around my home and I'm able to receive a strong signal throughout most of my home. Beware, however, that this is a discontinued product so the accessories are limited...and once they're gone, that's it. I'm also very happy with the Sirius programming. Great music selection as well as talk, news and entertainment. I believe satelite is still in its infancy and will continue to get bigger and better. Good luck and hope this helps.

this unit is easy to install. sirius has great station selections and i love how you can see the artist and song title while quickly flipping thru the stations....so why did i give it a three? if you can not install the antenna outside (it is against my lease) and your widows do not face the midwest (mine dont) reception will be horrible. with satellite radio that means its perfect or nothing. i live in a wooden building so i get some reception but it will get no signal thru concrete, metal, or trees and bushes. sirius has repeaters in big cities to compensate for lots of tall buildings and crowded areas but if you call them to find out if a repeater is in your area they will not give out that information. i am still keeping my radio cause when it works i really enjoy it but i have to be willing to frequently move the antenna to get a signal. sirius tends to downplay the possible problems so buyer beware. my friend has a car unit and has very few problems.
too hard to get reception...bought xm instead!

Good for 2 years of daily docking.,
This review is from: Audiovox SIR-PNP3 Sirius Satellite Radio Receiver (Electronics)
Sirius radio content is great. I like the fact that the Audiovox docks in the house and car. Except for the fact that it got hot, it performed very well. I've had the SIR-PNP2 since January 2004 the unit died February 2006. The pins from the socket on the inside of the unit wore down and the audio started cutting in and out. The main board has a socket that takes pins from the extranal socket that fits the docking stations. So, if you're going to buy this type of unit expect it to wear out after a couple years of taking it between the house and car every day. My wife leaves hers in the car, so she's fine. I switched to a home based unit (SR-H550) to make MP3s of my favorite shows. NPR is on FM for the drive to and from work anyway. The SR-H550 sounds better and doesn't get even get warm.

SIRIUS RADIO REVIEW,

This product really helped me out. I had another that was faulty, due in part to age. Purchasing this unit allowed me to easily slide it in and I was ready to run. The only issue was that the password to unlock the channels was not provided and therefore it took 3 1/2 hours on the phone with Sirius trying to determine what was blocking the channels. Finally resolved, and everything else is academic.

While this is an older version, I prefer it. It is easier to install and works out great for me. I have tried a newer version, but I keep looking for the older versions. If you find one of theses, snap it up. I do!
