3.0 out of 5 stars Good DVD! May 9, 2009
Good dvd. Clear explanations, but some deaf people in the dvd are biased about communication modes (SEE, PSE, Cue system, and Oral). It is highly recommended for current and future educators, interpreters, professionals, friends, and families to watch it to understand audism and learn how to be culturally sensitive to a variety of deaf and hard of hearing children and adults. It is highly recommended for teachers and interpreters, who work in the mainstreaming programs at public schools. For your information, 89 % educators, interpreters, and paraprofessionals are hearing, comparing to 7 % of them are deaf. 89 % of them do think that they do understand audism, but they do not. It is a must to get the dvd!

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredibly Powerful - A Must See!! March 18, 2009
This film unveils the oppression of the deaf and hard of hearing that is truly invisible to the majority of society. While I agree with the previous reviewer in that there are not many persons blessed with hearing and/or speech "out to get" the deaf and hard of hearing community - to watch this film and not be moved would suggest a deficiency not of the senses, but of the soul.

The film making is impeccable, but it is really the testimonies of the deaf and hard of hearing persons that make this documentary something special. A must see that has the potential not only to open our eyes but to inspire us to live more compassionately and move us to advocate on behalf of the unheard and unseen.

Note: This is a silent film with subtitles.
