5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing product!
This product seems so simple, yet is so ingenious, it makes you wonder why it hadn't been made earlier! Gone are the clunky short mic stands in front of your amp... this baby really cleans up the stage area in front of the amps and makes everything neat and tidy! Great value on a great product.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cab Grabber --- Almost There...., January 7, 2010

This is a clever and useful device that lacks in only one area: its "clamping" device is an elastic band inside the main tube. I was disappointed because I can't get a bombproof and secure fit onto my cab. With an expensive mike in the holder, this thing feels precarious. The designers took pains to machine threaded connectors for the mic bracket itself -- I wish they had also machined a threaded clamp so that the grabber would really grab -- and hold.

2.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't Fit My 2 Cabs, January 31, 2012

This review is from: Audix CabGrabber Guitar Cabinet Mic Mounting System (for 8-14 inch Cabs) (Electronics)
I bought this to use on my Bogner 2x12 and my HIWATT 2x12, and it's too small for the Bogner (which was evident from the product description), and it doesn't grab onto the edge of the HIWATT well enough for me to trust it. For cabs with thick sides (like most cabs), there's juts not much surface area on the grabber to really get a good grip. Further, you don't have much flexibility with mic placement without going to a goose neck. I also had problems getting the mic to seat against the grill cloth: I had to use a clip grip holder (not a standard mic grip) so that I could hold the SM57 closer to the front.

All in all, while I'm a HUGE Audix fan -- you can't beat their mics -- this product was just too problematic with my gear, so I had to return it. It was supposed to hold my mic securely, and so on, but it failed to do so, thus it didn't work for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy, but measure first, November 2, 2011

This is rugged and simple, but make sure to get the right size.

I have a nice dynamic mic, so it didn't make sense to cheap out on the stand. Especially a cab which which can be moved and adjusted with the mic still attached.

But cheap, buy twice.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works With SM57. Just Needs an Easy Tweak., April 23, 2011

This review is from: Audix CabGrabber Guitar Cabinet Mic Mounting System (for 8-14 inch Cabs) (Electronics)
I own several Cab Grabbers and just want to clarify things for those worried about these working with their SM57 clips.

If your factory SM57 clip holds the mic too close to the connector end, causing it to push into their amp's grille, try this (at your own risk):

Drop the clip into a pot of boiling water for around five minutes. Fish it out with a pair of tongs. Quickly dry it with a towel and carefully shove it onto the mic, until it reaches the shoulder where the mic transitions from conical to cylindrical. Let it cool completely. Reattach the clip to the Cab Grabber and notice the mic's perfect position.

I would give the Cab Grabber 5 stars if the boom was adjustable to make the above tweak unnecessary, and to accommodate Sennheiser MD421's without a special clip (which is a relatively expensive shockmount). However, the Cab Grabber is a great product and serves its purpose well with many different mics and clips. In fairness, this was designed for a specific Audix microphone and was brought to market separately in response to customer requests and market demand.

5.0 out of 5 stars Compact Device Lightens Guitarist's Load, July 20, 2010

The CabGrabber works as advertised, and eliminates the need to lug around a mainstream mic stand and boom to mic your guitar amp during gigs. The device relies on spring-tension to attach to the amp wall panel, and a tightening ring assures boom positioning.

At $50, the price point is a little hefty for a piece of hardware, but I used Amazon points to discount the price, justifying the purchase.

Way to go, Audix.
