Promising debut album,

This review is from: Audrye Sessions (Audio CD)
The indie-rock West Coast band Audrye Sessions issued an intruiging EP last Fall, lead by the appealing "Turn Me Off" tune, and now comes the debut album. If you are not familiar with the sound of the band, they remind me of Siberian-meets-Travis (of 10 years ago).
"Audrye Sessions" (12 tracks; 46 min.) starts off with "Turn Me Off", which is also positioned as the band's first single, and it sure is an easy-to-the-ears tune, with great guitar hooks. Other good tracks include the biting "Julianna", "The Paper Face" with a pensive beginning only to the crash in. But the second half of the album is where the best tracks are found, none better than "Where You'll Find Me", reminiscent of Travis' "Writing to Reach Me", just beautiful, and THE outstanding track on this album (and another obvious single candidate). The ballad "She Had to Leave" is quite nice as well. The epic closer "Dust and Bones" (with strings) closes the album beautifully. In all, I really like this debut album. It shows a lot of promise for the future for these guys, and I can't wait to see where they'll go from here. They are currently on the road supporting this album, and I hope to catch them sometime, can't wait to see how these songs will resonate in concert.

I came across this singer's music video on television and, while the video was not all that impressive, the song "Relentless" was memorable. So I thought I would see what else he has produced and was pleasantly surprised that the music on the CD is of similar quality and varied. As with One Republic's "Dreaming Out Loud" CD, I am also happy to find that I like every song on the CD for different reasons. I would like to see more music from this artist.

Let me tell you how i found out about Audrye Sessions. I seen them live, blah, blah blah who cares.
Now let me tell how i REALLY heard them. (i did see them live, opened for Manchester Orchestra, didn't bat an eyelash) During an ESPN Sportscenter highlight real for football, the song "Tun me off" was playing. It was ok, so i checked out the cd. After listening to "turn me off" several times (20) i decided i really liked the lead singers voice and guitar sounds. I bought the cd, because i like giving new bands a chance, and i wasn't satisfied or unsatisfied. I'm still listening to the album but really the other songs that stand out Julianna Relentless Awake Where you'll find me All in all its not bad but i was bummed that their isn't much upbeat sound. i would recommend buying the album ad using your own judgment. Will get a solid 5 songs out of the cd anyway.

I've seen the Audrey Session play live twice now. The first time as an opening band for Airborne Toxic Event, and the second time on their own. Both performances were incredible. The music is epic. Hoping back and forth from soft to full out wail, I still get the chills listening. After playing the album through and through, I can now add them to my "check this band out" list. Do yourself a favor and tell your buddies about this disc. You will be the new friend with good taste in music.
