Product Description

The Vista squirrel resistant feeder is for the serious bird enthusiast. This rugged double-sided feeder will attract a wide array of birds to your yard, while spring-activated perches work to keep squirrels away. This feeder features a simple and functional design, the two counter balance perches are adjustable to three positions and prove useful and effective at feeding the birds and not the squirrels. Holding up to 6 lbs of birds favorite mixed seed, sunflower seeds, peanut halves or safflower, this large capacity requires less frequent filling. Stop birds from shoveling food out with the no waste seed saver baffle.Durable, green powder coated steel top and bottom, acrylic body and a zinc-plated steel hanger. Lift the roof for easy filling and cleaning, while acrylic body shows when feeder is empty. The overhanging roof and hopper keeps the seed dry and protected from the elements and the steel top and bottom withstands all types of weather and unwanted critters in your backyard for many seasons. Squirrels weight on perch triggers a metal shield to cover the seed tray and shut off seed supply. Fully assembled, hangs from tree branch or outdoor supports with included heavy duty hanger.

I used to have squirrels eating the contents of my feeder on a daily basis which was costing a fortune in seed. Because the feeder is hanging from a pole off of a second story deck, the baffle I tried prevented access from the top but they were still able to jump from the deck rail directly on to other feeders and clean them out. Raccoons were able to do the same at night unless I took the feeder inside. This feeder is really heavy duty, and the squirrels have given up. I have not had to take this one in during the evenings like I used to because the raccoons have not been able to get to the seed either. I did add a clear baffle on top of it in order to keep the rain out of the seed in the tray since the roof does not extend that far out. The seed tray is big enough for larger birds such as mourning doves to eat however the blue jays seem to have a hard time with it too. Doves as well as cardinals, chickadees, titmice & all varieties of finches have all been enjoying it. Great product.

Great feeder - I did a lot of research about squirrel-proof options, and this one has been great. Bought two - one for me and one for my dad, and we both love it. Attracts tons of birds, looks good, easy to fill and maintain, and really does keep out the squirrels. Highly recommend!

Functional design, attractive and with solid construction. I noticed no uneaten seed falling from this feeder. The design of the hoppers may keep birds from scattering uneatten seed, which could contribute to substantial savings! I would highly recommend this feeder.

Block that squirrel!
Block that squirrel!
It's been our mantra for years as the varmints have damaged our cars and devoured seed meant for the birds. At the moment we seem to have things under control. I moved the tray feeder, their main target, and put some metal dryer venting around the post supporting it. Squirrels can only look at the seed tray longingly now.

We also have an assortment of tube filters and so called squirrel proof feeders. They all work well. Two of our feeders are tubes surrounded by a cage to keep out the squirrels. This feeder and a larger one we have are gravity operated. Any heavy animal causes to perch to drop down, blocking access to the seed.

The Heritage Farms feeder has worked well so far, well meaning no squirrels. We like that it comes with an extra hanger for added location flexibility. The perch has enough resistance to keep it from closing while weighed down by several small birds or a larger one like a cardinal or bluebird. I'm not sure it the feeder would close under a woodpecker, but the perch is so close to the feeder that it would be difficult for a large woodpecker to access this feeder. For this reason we wish the perch were extended out just a little bit further.

If you notice that the spring setting is not to your liking, you can adjust the weight setting to select which birds you'd like to dine at your feeder.

The feeder will hold many kinds of food, including sunflower seeds and half peanuts. Food openings at the bottom are about a half inch square so any nuggets larger than that could cause a problem. The perch itself is about six inches in length.

The Heritage feeder holds quite a lot of food and is easy to fill through its roof.

The squirrels don't even try anymore. We have smart and pesky squirrels here in Virginia and after a couple frustrating weeks (for them) they gave up and just go around the bottom for the spillage (what little there is). I have the spring tension set to medium and all the medium to small birds have no problem getting at the food. The birds love it; the squirrels hate it; and that makes me very happy. Highly recommended!

Squirrels learn quickly to hang from the top of this feeder so as not to close the lid/gates over the food. Rusts after a couple of seasons.

This feeder really works well. We were plagued by squirrels and racoons stealing the bird feed. This feeder had stopped the raiders, and the birds of all sizes seem to handle it well. A good product that gets the job done. Our daughter is now ordering one for herself.

Love it! I bought two and I'm so glad I did! Now no more wasted bird seed on the ground or for the squirrels to hog! Great price, especially when compared to those at other places like a franchised bird store in many places! I got mine quickly as well. I may buy more!
