Danger lurks in a past she can't remember...
She doesn't know what happened the night of the storm, why she
was walking along the highway without ID, or why she has a fading tan
line on her wedding ring finger, but a dark and terrifying presence
haunts the edge of her memory. Before she can start a new life with the
wonderful man who came to her rescue, she must remember what in her past
might take her away from him.

Heartache lies in a past he can't forget...
Blaming himself for his late wife's death, Geoffrey Barthlow has only begun to
scrape together the pieces of his shattered life. When Jane Doe "August"
falls into his world, he sees the opportunity to help her as a chance
to heal his own soul. But as he finds himself falling for the beautiful
mystery woman, he knows his heart is once again at risk; she has another
life somewhere that she will eventually remember.

Editorial Reviews

About the Author

Pamela Fryer has a vivid imagination. As a teenager, she thought she’d write a book, have Stephen King-like fame, and buy a big house for her family in Woodside Hills (where today you can’t find a fixer-upper for under a million dollars). Reality sank in fast, and today, Pamela understands the term “starving artist.” But even so, that doesn’t stop her from writing the stories spinning through her imagination. When asked why she writes romance, the answer is simple. There’s too much violence, anger, and hatred in this world, and this is her way of bringing back a tiny bit of joy. Her favorite stories to write are about normal people like Emily Atkinson, who find themselves in dangerous situations but somehow manage to rise above the odds and triumph. And always, with a happy ending.

4.0 out of 5 stars 4.5 stars & a great read February 8, 2013
By Emily
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I really enjoyed this read. It's a sweet contemporary romance with a twist of mystery, a tad bit of action, and some steamy (but not vulgar) love scenes.

Geoffrey = wow/dreamy/perfect
Colin = scumbag
August = sweet/cute but frustrating

I recommend giving this book a try.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW! I absolutely LOVED this book. It is a MUST READ! February 23, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
LOVED this book from the 1st page until the last. The writer wove a beautiful romance, peppered with suspense. Jane Doe mysteriously turns up on a dark night in the middle of a storm and staggers in front of Geoffrey's car. Although he swerved to avoid her, the car clipped her. Geoffrey put her into his car and rushed her to emergency. As she began to recover, it soon became apparent that she had additional injuries that were not sustained in the crash, and more importantly, suffered from severe amnesia.

Geoffrey cares for her tenderly, torn between his growing affection for her and his unselfish desire to help her find her past, even if it resulted in losing her. Geoffrey's niece has dubbed Jane Doe "August", because of her birthstone ring. August also feels a growing affection for Geoffrey, but she won't let herself feel anything until she discovers her past. She is terrified that her past might include some criminal activity that would make her unworthy of Geoffrey's love. Tension builds as August feels that someone is after her, with intent to kill her.

I loved the characters in this book, the development of the plot and the sizzling attraction between the two, which becomes complicated when a triangle develops. The plot was never predictable, and I eagerly read to the end, although I was sad to have this literary adventure over.

I think this story would play out well in a movie.

5.0 out of 5 stars A sea going mystery with romance February 10, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
The thing that made this book great for me is that it takes place on a sailboat. As a sailor, I can relate to the accuracy and detail that make this an interesting story on many levels. The personal relationships go beyond the superficial and the backround on the high seas make this a very interesting and fun read. Beyond your average romance story!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good story despite the amnesia angle December 7, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I enjoyed this book although I'm not usually fond of 'amnesia' stories. The H knocks the h over accidentally one night when she wanders into the road in front of him. He immediately takes her to hospital and takes care of her from then on until she regains her memory. The h is being stalked by the villain (this was a surprising twist) and is aware that there is something wrong. There is a strong attraction between the main characters but she wants to regain her memory before getting involved with the H. The H is wonderful and I loved that he was a little insecure because of his fabulous brothers. The H is quite a catch actually. Good story

5.0 out of 5 stars Great story line May 2, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Very different story line and I was impressed that for a book on Kindle free list, it was actually edited... and well...most free book are not. I liked the ending but did not guess right as to who the culprit was. The only fault I saw was that no woman in her right mind would have treated Colin as nicely as Emily did. A normal woman would have given it to him with both barrels -lol
