I found this biography of the pioneer, Clara Brown, to be an inspiring tale of courage, faith, and charity. It would be a wonderful tale to share with a young child, especially a young girl!

Finished the book in two days. Super story, great reading, well written. A must for any American history buff.

As a participant in the In 2 reading program this was a great selection by the student. Very informative for me, well written and illustrated. History I was unfamiliar with and a nice read.

I was asked to read this book as a Pen Pal participant in the 2011-2012 In2Books ePals program. I was excited to see that the children had picked a book that had such vivid historical significance. The story paints Aunt Clara Brown's picture in easy-to-understand pictures, and accompanies them with a simple story that doesn't lessen the impact of the important words. I was thoroughly impressed!

My second grader liked this book and was able to explain a lot about the Civil War and slavery in America after reading it. The book made Aunt Clara Brown's story come to life, and my child now looks up to her for her brave actions.
