Aunt Dimity Series is a great one for Cozy reads.,

Ms. Atherton has a charming series with Aunt Dimity. This one takes the characters to Colorado for a "vacation" for the jangle nerves of the central character who in the last installment was seriously accosted and almost killed in the Scottish highlands.
the plot is not terribly earthshattering as the last one, but it is engaging. It would have been nice to have less catering to the twins as it seems they are really taking more of center stage in each new volume. I would have like to have more of Aunt Dimity- maybe even writing in something besides the blue notebook????

Worth the Wait!,

I feel like I've waited forever for this next in the series book. It was absolutely worth the wait. The previous book was a disappointment because Aunt Dimity was rarely mentioned. In this book you get a bonus, not only Aunt Dimity but a new "ghost" in the blue journal comes through. A great mystery, a friend revisited and a joy to read. Please start with her first in the series so that you are familiar with Aunt Dimity - reading the last first will make no sense. Have a good read.

Atherton's series about Lorri & Aunt Dimity are always fun, intertwined with mystery and an almost believable story. Here she & the twins & their nanny head for Colorado to aid in Lori's medical & psychological recovery (from the last book). Almost immediately she discovers a mystery and curse involving the 'cabin' where they are staying. How can one woman always find herself in these situations?!?! But you know it will be a happy ending! Enjoy a fast, fun read!

AUNT DIMITY GOES WEST,
This review is from: Aunt Dimity Goes West (Hardcover)
I love the way that Nancy Atherton writes her stories, they are clean wholesome stories that the whole family can read and enjoy. Ms. Atherton keeps you in suspense and Aunty Dimity is so sensible and causes Lori to think straight. This book was very good because it had a surprise in it that I had not read in the other Aunt Dimity series - and I have read them all. I believe that anyone who reads this one book will want the whole series as I did when I bought my first book a few years ago, now I have the whole collection and will pass them on to my grandchildren who also loves to read as much as I do.

These books are always a light and fast read, but I always find them rather charming, if you can accept the concept. This takes the heroine out of the U.K. into the western US but, as always, she runs into the usual bad guys and paranormal persons. When I read these books I always know what I am getting and enjoy them for what they are.

Rest, Relaxation and Bluebell,
By
This review is from: Aunt Dimity Goes West (Aunt Dimity Mystery) (Mass Market Paperback)
I can't believe that I'm up to book number 12 in this series. I love these characters and can't wait until I can read the next.
This book did catch me a bit off guard. Dimity seems to have a harder edge in her writing to Lori. Not that Lori doesn't need it, but Dimity has always been the soft sympathetic ear that Lori desperately needs. As Lori is trying to recuperate from her near death experience with Abbadon, Bill decides to literally take the bull by the horns and sends Lori and the boys as far away from Finch as possible. That being a ranch in Bluebell, Colorado. Lori's not too sure about this, picturing a shack but what the Aerie turns out to be is a spectacular home perched over an abandoned mine. But this isn't the quirky part, that lies in the people of Bluebird itself. They all remarkably resemble Lori's friends back in Finch. Even Dimity thinks that Lori has finally lost it, that is until she, Dimity, meets her own counterpart. When Lori finds out that the homes owners left in a hurry vowing to never return, everyone in town talking about the curse and the twins start picking up bad language that they swear they hear in their room at night -- the overly curious Lori embarks on getting to the bottom of this. With the help of the caretaker they enter the mine that should have been closed off years ago.

Lori Shepherd in the West,
By
This review is from: Aunt Dimity Goes West (Hardcover)
This book is interesting because it has mystery, humor, history, interwoven. Lori goes for healing of fears and finds herself in town who fears a home which has a ghost. The caretaker has disappeared. Is he part of a sinister plot or a victim? Within the mystery is the humor that many people are much like the people of Lori's hometown. Do small towns have similar types of people? There is a great deal of histroy of the old mining town with its struggles and hardships. There is compassion. Aunt Dimity remains level headed, but there is an interesting and unexpected new twist in this story. This is an enjoyable book to read.

I picked this book, and another Aunt Dimity, up in a sale and had never hear do her. I was pleasantly surprised by both books and enjoyed their quite different gentler mysteries. The Aunt Dimity character is certainly an original.I would recommend this series of books to anyone who wants a light entertaining read with no gore or distress, though there was a touch of scary spookiness in both the books, the other was Aunt Dimity: Snowbound: Snowbound (Aunt Dimity Mystery), that I have read.
