I am a huge Piece O' Cake fan, and have purchased just about every book and pattern they have published. I use their book "The New Applique Sampler" when I teach needleturn applique, because it includes fantastic photos and detailed instructions for those learning to applique. I think it is the best technique book out there on needleturn applique.

"Aunt Millie's Garden" is the latest spectacular quilt by Piece O' Cake's Becky Goldsmith and Linda Jenkins. It is twelve symmetrical flower designs (that finish to 14" square) done in bright colors on red backgrounds, with more flower designs in the borders.

This is not a book in the traditional sense. It is an envelope-style sleeve that holds a 16-page booklet with excellent instructions (many from the "New Applique Sampler" book) that describes and shows in photos how to prepare, applique and finish the quilt. There are also six separate pattern sheets (printed on both sides) with full-sized diagrams for each block. A separate sheet has the two border patterns. I really like this presentation, because it allows you to work from the patterns without struggling with a bound book.

Piece O'Cake is brilliant. This is so much better than another book because it focuses on the patterns without all of the instructional rehash. There is plenty of piecing and applique instruction included for the quilter who has had any experience at all. Frankly, a beginner probably shouldn't be trying these patterns as it could be quite overwhelming. Thank you for another wonderful design, Piece O'Cake Designs.

Loved the designs in this packet. Expected a book but the packet was great with the blocks all printed out. The designs are simple enough and would be a great quilt made from these blocks. Great addition to my library. Gladys

Nice patterns; like them presented on separate sheets of paper. It is a problem that the patterns are printed on both sides of a sheet. This presents a problem if using a light table for tracing pattern pieces.

I just love the blocks. Red is a neutral color which people do not realise and any color goes with it.. The instructions are up to the usual Piece o'Cake standard, and therefore very easy to applique. I am on my 6th block and have only had this pattern for 2 weeks. I noticed that this quilt gained 3 rd place at the latest Quilt contest in U.S.A.
