Credit Cards offers, forget about it.

You could shred 6 or so sheets of paper three or four times then would need to stop due to overheating.
MDH
The thing is not overheating (takes 2 seconds to stop) and it does go in reverse.

My husband and I have been storing sensitive documents in a closet for months (okay, perhaps longer), promising all along that we'd eventually buy a shredder and be rid of them safely once and for all. We wanted something that we could use at home to shred the occasional expired credit card and the deluge of pre-approved offers that come in the mail on a weekly basis...oh, yeah, and we needed to get rid of that pesky garbage bag of accumulated confidential stuff!

After reading the online reviews, I decided this was the best shredder for the price. I was not disappointed! It makes quick work of documents and receipts and, just as it promises, it will do 10 sheets at a time. The manual says that if the machine overheats it will automatically shut off; however, even after sitting for 40 minutes straight feeding this thing our years of accumulated shredder material, it never once overheated. The only complaint I have is that the shredder unit itself is a bit on the heavy side, as I found when I tried to lift it with one hand and maneuver the basket out from under it with the other.

Overall, I think this is a great shredder for home use and would highly recommend it.

The Aurora crosscut shredder is excellent for personal and home-office shredding needs. It is a compact unit that doesn't take up a lot of space, and it shreds up to 10 sheets of paper at once into fine cross-cut confetti. Cross-cutting, which makes shorter strips than the non-crosscut shredders that make strips the full length of the paper being shredded, is good both for security and for compactness of the waste produced; it's also better confetti for ticker-tape parades and such (if harder to clean up afterward!), though inferior as packing materials, where you actually want the stuff to take up more space.

In addition to paper shredding, this model also shreds credit cards (one at a time, inserted in a marked location at the middle), and it has a separate slot for shredding CDs. This isn't just for showing what you think of Britney's latest release... it can be used to dispose of old computer backups on CD-ROM that you wouldn't want somebody to fish out of your trash and look at. But, since it will work on DVDs too, I wouldn't hold it against you if you use it to give "From Justin to Kelly" the treatment it deserves...

Now that identity theft is a major worry, having one of these things at home can be a useful thing... that's how you should justify purchasing it, even if the real reason is that you just get some perverse pleasure out of destroying things!

I replaced my long term faithful 5 sheet Fellowes shredder. I really wanted a CD shred, and this one does 10 sheets instead of 5. I've found recently that credit card offers are getting extra thick, and the 5 sheet shredder was having problems with this.

It has no problems with the credit card offers. It is a bit slower than the Fellowes 5 sheet, but does not jam on some questionable thickness items. Note to Amazon, I got this at Walmart for $43.

Worked for just over 1 year of normal home use and then it decided to quit (thanks for the 2week notice!). I can't even manually get the shredder to work. It was working before I emptied the waste basket, but when remounted is now completely dead.

When it was working it did have a tough time shredding more than 6 papers at a time. Credit Cards offers, forget about it. It went extremely slow attempting to shred the offer & stopped part way through. Then, had to reverse it back out, trying to reshred it failed as expected. Finally, I discovered the only way shred it was to open the offers & divide 'em up beforehand.

Pros: Fair Price for advertised features. Looks nice. Confetti shredding IMO is secure enough. CD/DVD shredding capability, but only tried it once for giggles. Worked great, never had a single use for it after that. Credit Card shredder also nice.

Cons: Paper Shredder is Now a Paper Weight only 3 months after warranty has expired. Doesn't (At least mine didn't) handle 10 pages of shredding at once... just plain weak! Price - for what was paid for advertised features it doesn't feel like I got what I paid for when I was able to use it. Also, anticipated it would have lasted longer.

Other thoughts: I will do my research before impulse buying next time.

Shredded single CDs and Credit cards no problem. You could shred 6 or so sheets of paper three or four times then would need to stop due to overheating.

I have had it for six months and it just stopped working for no apparent reason. I had shredded about 1/4 of the baskets capacity the night before (3 or less sheets at a time over an hour period). The next day it wasn't working. I removed the shredder part and made sure it was not jammed. I plugged it into a different circuit in my house, still nothing.

Very disappointed. I didn't use it often.
