Product Description

Editorial Review

With its sweeping 15-inch wingspan, this prehistoric beast cuts a pretty mean figure. You wouldn't even think of tangling with that 5.5-inch-long beaky head! This plastic snap-together model from Aurora isn't exactly scientifically accurate, and looks more like a guy in a creepy pteranodon suit than a real winged reptile from 75 million B.C. Here the toymaker offers up a menacing pterosaur perfect for the big screen. Sitting atop its craggy, 9-inch-tall precipice (nicely prepped for painting with patches of vegetation), the big ugly dinosaur looks ready to swoop down and terrorize Raquel Welch and the cast of One Million Years B.C. The set comes with step-by-step instructions and painting guidelines. --Paul Hughes

From the Manufacturer

They're back and they look so real, you'll think these prehistoric giants are stomping the earth again! Cut out the colorful diorama on each box to add even more realism to your display. Snap-together kits from Aurora are made of high-quality styrene plastic and are easy to assemble (skill level 1). Paint (not included) is needed to complete model.

2.0 out of 5 stars NOT an reworked Aurora model kit, May 11, 2007
= Durability:1.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Aurora Dinosaur Model Kit: Pteranodon (Toy)
Contrary to another review of this kit, this is NOT a rework of the old Aurora "Prehistoric Scenes" Flying Reptile kit. That mold is owned by Revell/Monogram. This kit was a completely new model developed by Polar Lights. They used the Aurora logo on it because, at the time, they had rights to the Aurora logo & were putting it on reissues & new models that were never originally produced by Aurora. That created a bit of confusion, as you can see.

As far as the quality of the kit goes... it's a decent enough kit for kids to work with, but is not an accurate rendition of a Pteranodon.

This is another former Aurora kit that has been restored by Polar Lights. My 60s childhood is back! I have to have them all, and recommend them to nostalgia buffs and young alike.

Polar Lights has done a great job with this old Aurora kit. Box, art, reproduction, educational value, etc. and etc. These guys are the greatest toy makers on the block!
