Product Description

The Aurora LightPad is the largest LED light therapy aid in the market. The Aurora LightPad uses 600 LED bulbs to treat the symptoms associated with depression, seasonal affective disorder, sleep disorder and other mood disorders. LEDs provide long life, pure white light, and are shock and vibration resistant. They serve to reduce the unit's size and weight, yet deliver a full 10,000 lux of light. The human body uses light cues, such as those provided by the sun, to set the timing on certain internal functions. These daily internal cycles, called circadian rhythms, sometimes fall out of sync, resulting in an imbalanced body clock. The Aurora LightPad helps to shift circadian rhythms back to their normal time by delivering a specifically engineered intensity of light to simulate the production of key substances triggered by the brain.

Important Information

Directions
We recommend starting light therapy by staying approximately 40 inches from the Aurora LightPad for 30 minutes in the morning, within the first hour after waking up. Over the course of a week, you can either move closer to the light until you are within two feet for the 30 minutes or increase your time spent by building up to two hours. Within 10 days of starting light therapy, you should be waking up earlier and or feeling an increase of energy. If not, try adding five minutes a day to your time spent in front of the light.

I recommend this unit to my patients who have SAD.

It's light, convenient, and easily adjustable for angle, and fits in a much smaller space than my older ones did.

I've been using lightboxes for therapy for around 20 years. I've gone thru several lightboxes, and purchased this when my last one died. I love it! It's bright, and is effective farther away than any of my other ones. It's light, convenient, and easily adjustable for angle, and fits in a much smaller space than my older ones did. I also love that it has a lifetime warranty, and that I won't ever have to replace the bulbs again. I also like the fact that it's more directional, the inner grid points the light right at you, and doesn't overwhelm everyone else in the room.

I just purchased another cord to put in my bedroom, as I currently have it in the living room, and would like to have it to use when I first wake up and and just laying there. It's light and portable enough so that it will be easy to take with me.

I also just bought a kindle fire this past year, and discovered it won't work close to a florescent lightbox. Since I often spend my therapy time reading, this was a huge disadvantage, so I love being able to read my kindle now.

The only drawback at all (I could have given it 4 1/2 stars) is that the power button is very sensitive.

For a light box that is so solidly constructed, so bright, and clearly top-shelf quality, the stand on the back of the Aurora LightPad is a major disappointment. It's plastic, often unsnaps when you move or shift the unit (causing your box to fall over), and is entirely unreliable. At the top-shelf price you pay for this thing, it should have a top-shelf stand to go with it. If you never, ever move or readjust the unit you'll probably be fine -- but that's not realistic. I'm trying to figure out a way to DIY a better stand, because it would make the Aurora LightPad the perfect light box.

The LightPad produces the desired very bright light. The unit is much more compact than the other "light boxes" so I can take it with me to other locations.
