Book Description

Star Wars September 2000
This third exclusive Star Wars Masterpiece Edition is an awesome tribute to Star Wars' bounty hunters and to the most beautiful and cunning of them all, Aurra Sing—the first to scorch the screen in the cinematic chronology. By far the most popular subculture among core fans, the bounty hunters have proven themselves a necessity in the Star Wars universe. They are highly skilled professionals—hired by everyone from Darth Vader to Jabba the Hutt—and valued for their ability to carry out the most dangerous assignments. The Aurra Sing collector figure captures the fierce independence of the female bounty hunter with a sleek head antenna, extra-long fingers, two holstered pistols, and a modified blaster rifle. This exclusive 12-inch collector figure, the first Aurra Sing figure ever, is available only as part of this Masterpiece Edition. The richly illustrated full-color book details the many shrewd exploits and misdeeds of such other bounty hunters as Dengar, Bossk, Zuckuss, 4-LOM, IG-88, and, of course, the relentless Boba Fett, with a special focus on their hunt for the smuggler-cum-Rebel officer Han Solo. With more than one hundred color photographs, previously unpublished conceptual sketches, exclusive interviews, and a comprehensive list of Bounty Hunter collectible merchandise, this is the ultimate tribute to Star Wars' notorious anti-heroes.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cool idea, but over-priced, September 26, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Aurra Sing : Dawn of the Bounty Hunters (Star Wars Masterpiece Edition) (Hardcover)
I still haven't figured out why these Masterpiece editions cost so much money. $40 would be a much better price. The book is only about 100 pages long and isn't really the most informative book on the subject of Bounty Hunters.

I like the idea of a 12" Aurra Sing, but the figure is just so poorly done. The head is huge compaired to the frail body. And the body has almost no articulation - very barbie like.

First off....wait on buying this. The other two in the series both went on clearance. Second, the doll looks bad...not bad as in good, but BAD. Why isn't McFarlane Toys doing Star Wars figures? Or why is Kenner not matching them in detail and quality? I am tired of non-articulated figures or ones that don't even really look like the actor/actress. This isn't the late 70's or early 80's anymore. I can't really comment on the book, but for being a book on characters that barely are in the film....it's probably mostly speculative. The movies have always been the law. Lucas has stated this many times, and it's still ever changing as he continues to flesh out the series.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hardman's review, December 5, 2000

This review is from: Aurra Sing : Dawn of the Bounty Hunters (Star Wars Masterpiece Edition) (Hardcover)
For the most part, the book is authoritative about the bounty hunters with the exception of the main character of this book, Aurra Sing. Reason being, after reading the book and the Star Wars website character link on her, there are a couple of essential differences. One, Aurra Sing the figure and character in this book does not carry a scarlet bladed Light Saber. Two, the weapons that she carries are not able to be adequately held by the figure, where in the Star Wars website she carries a Light Saber and six other light sabers that she has gotten from other Jedis that she has killed. I also think that if she is going to be a character in Episode II, they will have to remodel her hands and maybe modify the weapons that she holds to reflect the characterisation of the original creator of this character as found in the Starwars.com link.
