The book introduces the four kinds of Chinese auspicious designs auspicious divinities, plants, animals, and things, objects, and Chinese characters -- with b&w illustrations. Motivated by a desire to carry on, innovate, and heighten the auspicious designs, authors of the book created and explored the content and forms of expression within the limits of carrying forward traditional ideas, enabling Chinese auspicious designs to take on a new look and suit and satisfy the habit and demand of appreciation of the people in modern times.

This has a plethora if good quality black and white clip-art-style drawings, but is somewhat sparse on the information about them. It is not made clear where the illustrations came from and certainly many of them have appeared elsewhere before this book was published.
It is an interesting addition to anyone's China library, but only for the pics.
