A good buy - but not the most complete, February 13, 2011
This review is from: Austin 100/6 and 3000 1956-68 Autobook (The Autobook series of workshop manuals) (Hardcover)
I have three workshop manuals. This one, the "official" green cover volume and the Haynes manual. Not surprisingly, I find that there is a lot of repetition. That said, this one covers a number of things the others don't. It is also more sparse. Despite its limitations, I use it a lot. I tend to read the instructions in each of the books and then the compare with internet sources to see if the descriptions are different. It is remarkable how often the descriptions are different. Oftentimes, steps are left out in one or more of the descriptions.
I don't think I would want this book as my only resource. For the "ham and egg" stuff it is fine. If you are doing a complete rebuild, I strongly suggest you get this with the green cover version of the official manual. Since the official was written for folks in the trade, this book helps to refocus a bit.
More importantly, for some jobs - notably some electrical rebuilds - this was the best of the books by far. There were some jobs that I would have been totally guessing on some steps without this book. This volume is also by far the most robust of the books. You are much less likely to damage it while working under your car. For that reason alone, it might be worth buying.
