5.0 out of 5 stars A shagadelic second volume, baby, YEAH!
I saw this album yesterday and was a little uneasy about buying it. I mainly got it for the Propellerheads song, but was I surprised when I put it in my CD player! All of them are my favorites, especially Lords of Acid and Fantastic Plastic Machines...I loved those songs because they were from the theatrical trailer & hey contain great 90s beats with 60s sounds...

3.0 out of 5 stars Music to shag to.
Maybe not as good as the first "Austin Powers" soundtrack, but still a great mix of random songs. Of course there's tunes from the era, like "I'm A Believer", "American Woman", "Let's Get It On", and the classic "Time Of The Season". Also 90's tracks from such diverse groups as "Lords Of Acid", "Fantastic...

I saw this album yesterday and was a little uneasy about buying it. I mainly got it for the Propellerheads song, but was I surprised when I put it in my CD player! All of them are my favorites, especially Lords of Acid and Fantastic Plastic Machines...I loved those songs because they were from the theatrical trailer & hey contain great 90s beats with 60s sounds. I also loved the Bangles' "Get The Girl" and They Might Be Giants' "Dr. Evil" theme song. This album is much better than Volume 1 because it doesn't contain rehashes of good old songs. This soundtrack is much more suitable for Austin Powers' 60s environment, like the "Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery" CD. I highly recommend getting this if you hated the first soundtrack. Very shagadelic!

When I first listened to this soundtrack, I didn't like 60's music. Now, I love it. American Woman is one of m favorite songs now.

4.0 out of 5 stars 'Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me' Movie Soundtrackl, May 25, 2008
This review is from: Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me: More Music From The Motion Picture (Audio CD)
Nicely assembled soundtrack CD to the second of the Austin Powers movies of three (so far). Liked hearing choice hits by the likes of the Monkees, Steppenwolf, the Guess Who, Bangles and The Zombies. Since Austin had to travel in time back to 1969 during the movie, this thirteen track CD to accompany the flick as such as I've always loved this movie. Also liked the Madonna exclusive cut of "Beautiful Stranger". Very good.

5.0 out of 5 stars So We Meet Again,Again Mr.Powers!, November 10, 1999

Well.....FINALLY! They Might Be Giants "Dr.Evil" is released. While Maverick was busy pushing the "used in the end credits only" version of "American Woman",they managed to leave the opening tile song off the soundtrack! How many James Bond Soundtracks DON'T include the Movie's title song? NONE! I want Madonna Liquidated! (And,while we are here, do we need another version of "Beautiful Stranger"?). I am glad this soundtrack includes actual stuff from the movie...including George Clinton's brilliant spy music.Imagine what a perfect soundtrack would've been produced,if Vol.1 & Vol.2 had all the "hype" tracks removed! Here's hoping the 3rd Austin Powers Film does not produce 3 Soundtracks! Stick to the original artists! (Or at least have some clever faux 60's tunes, like the first soundtrack.)

5.0 out of 5 stars What the first volume should have been!!!, October 30, 1999

This soundtrack is what a soundtrack is supposed to be...music from the movie. All but two songs are directly from the movie, unlike the first volume to the Spy Who Shagged Me. All of the songs are by the original artist this time, instead of bad re-makes. What really surprised me was the addition of the song at the start of the movie, the bond-ish tune about Dr. Evil. It even has the music when Austin and Mini-me are fighting, with funny quotes by Fat Bastard. What a great soundtrack.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth it for the "Dr. Evil" Theme, January 3, 2000
This review is from: Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me: More Music From The Motion Picture (Audio CD)
This bizarre song by They Might Be Giants [with legendary vocalist Goldie Goldwater doing a Shirley Bassey-Lulu send up] makes the album worthwhile.

The other songs, including Marvin Gaye, The Bangles and the racuous "Bachelor Pad" number (hearing it you feel like a throw back into Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In) are good, unadulterated fun, but they lack the quirky orchestration that makes this track a fun song to remember the lyrics to (they are some of the funniest, most mordant, I have ever heard).

Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Better Than Volume I!, November 16, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me: More Music From The Motion Picture (Audio CD)
"More Music..." contains an amazing mix of old (e.g., "I'm a Believer," "Magic Carpet Ride") and new tracks (e.g., Get the Girl, Beautiful Stranger) with a 60's vibe. This album superbly captures the fun psychedelic feel of the film.

My advice to Maverick: release "Get the Girl" by the reunited Bangles as a single! This track has top 10 written all over it! The Bangles are back, and "Get the Girl" is among their best ever recorded.

For you Madonna fans who were screaming for a maxi single for "Beautiful Stranger," this album contains the fantastic Calderone Mix that helped make this song #1 on the Billboard DanceMusic/Club Play Chart.

Pick this album up! You won't regret it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Even better than the first one..., November 4, 1999
This review is from: Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me: More Music From The Motion Picture (Audio CD)
I was pleasantly surprised by this soundtrack. It is way better than the first one because a.) It's got rocking classics like "Magic Carpet Ride," b.) Lenny Kravitz cannot sing "American Woman" at all, c.) Who the heck is Lucy Nation and how did their song end up on the first volume? and d.) The Bangles are just plain good, no matter how sparse the lyrics are in "Get the Girl." Coolness.
