Biography

Two SIX PAKs in, Blake Shelton is feeling as good as he's ever felt about his career.
"This has been an amazing year for me," he says. "If you would have told me when I started out that I would have two major awards, a CD in the upper reaches of the charts, a sold-out show at the Ryman Auditorium and a career that's generally on fire, I would have thought you were pulling my leg."
He's got all that… Read more in Amazon's Blake Shelton Store

Editorial Reviews

Blake Shelton is one of country music's nest singers. He is a rising star and the single "Austin" is what introduced Blake to the world. It was written by David Kent and Kirsti Manna and is based on a real life experience. The guy had broken up with a girl who moved back to Austin. On his answering machine he said, "If this is Austin, I still love you". When the writers heard that phrase they knew it was a song that had to be written. Sadly, the real life experience didn't turn out as well as it did for the people in the song. The song is produced by well-known writer, Bobby Braddock. It was officially released to radio on April 23, 2001. As of today it has been on the charts for 24 weeks, with 5 consecutive weeks at number 1. That's awesome for a debut single! On September 6, the video for "Austin" came in #43 on Country Music Television's Top 100 Requests. They always do a special Labor Day Weekend promotion of the top videos. Blake Shelton is 25 years old and a huge 6'5". You can find "Austin" on his first self-titled album "Blake Shelton" that came out on July 31, 2001. His 1st Grand Ole Opry appearance was on May 5, 2001. His big break was his Sony Production deal with Bobby Braddock. Warner Brothers is his record label. The words to the song tell a story. I had never heard of Blake Shelton when this song hit country radio. Here are the words to the song:

5.0 out of 5 stars Austin - Blake Shelton, June 14, 2001
This review is from: Austin / Problems at Home (Audio CD)
Having lived in Austin, this song caught my attention but when I listened to the words, I was literally moved. I waited to hear it again but couldn't find it until I saw it in Billboard. This is one of the best songs I have heard in a long time!

This song is just fantastic. Destined to be a number one single. If this is this good I wonder what else we can expect from Blake Shelton? I just can't wait for the Album to see what else he has to offer. Austin is the best song I've heard in a long long time. I could listen to it all day long. Even if your not into country normally I would recommend buying it because you'll love it. So far I haven't met anyone who doesn't like it. I would give it 6 stars if that was possible. He'll be rubbing elbows with the big boys(and girls) of country in no time at all if he keeps this up.
