I found this to be a decent book on Australian Shepherds. I would say that it is geared for the person(s) who want to get some basic information on the breed. The book is really not meant for breeders, or people who have raised and trained dogs before, especially this breed of dog. I feel that the book is meant to give the new Aussie owner, a general introduction to this wonderful dog.

The training DVD is very elementary, and should not be viewed as a extensive training manual, but again, giving the dog owner some basic pointers on training, and health care of the dog. At least it puts you on the right track without making major errors in training your dog.

A rather general book about the Australian Shepherd. Nice history of the breed and some nice pictures. If you are looking for a general overview of the breed and are trying to make up your mind if this dog is for you, this book is a good place to start. If you are more experienced and are looking for more detailed information about the breed, facts about training the Australian Shepherd or tips on working with the breed, you are most likely to be disappointed. I found the training DVD to general and of little use. Kind of like watching one of the training films in high school that is 20 years out of date.

This book does not give a lot of good advice for this breed. It is more general than breed specific. There is a lot of "boiler plate" language used in this book, meaning that the editor seems to just replace the breed's name for each book in the series, so the book does not seem to be breed specific except for the pictures. Read one chapter and you will pick up what I am throwing down. You may be better off just getting a book that a reputable breeder would recommend for Aussie owners.
