I had ordered this scope a month ago based upon the ratings here as well as the price. I also loved the fact you could record via SD card and playback later. However, upon initial inspection immediately after opening the case, I found the package missing two accessories: the magnet and the hook. I then checked the web page to ensure those accessories were, in fact, advertised as included. They are: "Accessories- mirror, hook and magnet", so I gave Amazon a call and the exchange was initiated.

I then posted a question to the community here as to who received what (see questions and answers), and as you can see, some received all accessories while others received one or two. Very "suspect" quality control from Autel as to what they are shipping to Amazon. I attempted to call Autel, but after being placed on hold for 23 minutes, then disconnected, I knew that wasn't going anywhere positive.

After receiving the *second* scope, again I immediately checked the included accessories, and sure enough, the same two pieces were missing from the accessory bag. Again, a call to Amazon and this time, their customer service representative (Alicia) really went above and beyond and the issue was handled greater than I could have ever imagined or anticipated (thank you Alicia!).

This time, however, I decided to check out the scope to see exactly how it performed (in comparison to a Bosch and Rigid I once had) and must say, the light is extremely poor and will not afford enough light in completely darkened spaces (such as behind walls and anyplace else there's no other light source). Unless the head is almost on top of what you're looking for, you'll not have enough light to see much else throughout the surrounding area.

The next disappointment was the shaft.

This scope is well built and suitable for looking into small spaces as long as you are viewing forward. With that said, it simply does NOT work at all for inspecting an engine cylinder via a spark plug or glow plug hole. The problem is that it cannot view sideways nor up. It is not somewhat unable, it is completely unable. While there is a sideview mirror, it is not able to provide a useful image due to reflections that cannot be dimmed (they are designed into the mirror's structure). There is no ability to see valves at all. You can see the top of the pistion but not with enough clarity to be useful. So, if you are buying it for other than engine cyclinder inspection, it could be helpful. It is a waste of time & money for cylinder inspection due to it's inability to view sideways or view up. A new viewing head would need to be designed to remedy this inability. Autel customer service reports no current plans for such a new viewing head.

For the price, this videoscope can't be beat! It has great viewing quality and all the features of the Tool Wagon scopes, most of which have a price over four times the cost of this one.
I am an automotive technician with over 30 years of diagnostic experience and have used many other borescopes through the years, this one is hands down the best one I have owned. The previewing on your laptop screen of what you captured on the videoscope makes the screenshot even better. Also one can email it to a customer for a detail of the job needed.
Amazon accommodated me in shipping this out as the other companies listing it here would not ship to the State of Hawaii, a Big Mahalo to Amazon!!

Pros: Good screen, saves pics & video to sdhc card (I've used 8 & 32GB), imager head is really slim, built in rechargeable battery is great.
Cons: LEDs on this 5.5mm imager are weak, controls take some getting used to (the screen rotation button will flip the on-screen icons & such- "mirror image").

All in all, it's a good tool for the money, & so I found a replacement 8.5 mm imager head, which has noticeably better lighting & video. The MV400 & MV208 use the same video imager head/cable. For most work the 8.5 mm unit is fine, but I can swap to the 5.5 if needed. I like the larger 3.5" screen & rechargeable battery of the MV400 vs the MV208 2.4" screen & AA batteries.

There don't seem to be many sellers of MV400-8.5, you can find any number of MV208 in 5.5 or 8.5, or MV400-5.5. If you only use it occassionally, the MV208 might be for you. If you need it often, get the MV400-8.5 if available, otherwise buy the MV400-5.5, then get the extra 8.5 head (or just get the MV208-8.5 as well- that is only $30-40 more than the 8.5 head & it's still several hundred $$ cheaper overall than most tool truck videoscopes)

This is at tool that is used in my auto repair shop, its not used often but is extremely helpful in seeing in places where I would normally have to spend time removing parts to see a problem. Screen is clear and large enough, plenty of lighting at camera end. Camera probe length is adequate for automotive purposes. The video and picture taking ability is a helpful feature

I purchased the Autel (MV400-5.5) Digital Video scope with 3.5" Screen and 5.5mm Head to use for bore scoping my rifles. It works great. The 5.5mm head fits a 7mm barrel with ease. Pictures are sharp, clear and easy to define. This little unit has taken all the guess work out of cleaning and inspecting my firearms.
