While there are 50 charts and 21 patterns for applique, Pamela has only 2 pages that tell you "how to do it." But, the applique patterns alone are worth the price of the book. All Patterns are black and white and color suggestions are given. There are brief descriptions given for loom beading and 2 needle applique.

As a person who pieces quilts and does beadwork, I usually see an actual quilt or a piece of beadwork OR a color photograph of an item. After viewing an actual item or a photo and appreciating the colors and the pattern, I then decide if I want to make it. While this book has 50 charts for bead weaving and 21 patterns for applique, there are only four pages of photographs showing a total of about 26 items. I was dissappointed that there wasn't a color photo for every design in the book. People want to see what a finished product will look life before taking the time and effort to make it.

This is a great book to use for applique designs. I craft and bead cradleboards and the designs really helped towards my ideas. The designs vary in region which also helps. The designs are large, simple to use and she even numbers them for the specific colors to use if you choose. I am very satifsfied with Stanley-Miller's book.

This book is loaded with patterns. They are laid out very well and easy to follow. It is not a technique book. One improvement would be that small pictures of the finished products would have helped with choosing patterns.

This book was a bit of a disappointment. There is some instruction for doing beadwork, but the print is in a very small font--making it difficult to read. The only color pictures are on the front and back covers--using both sides of the cover. All charts are in black and white. The markings in the charts are rather light, making them difficult to see. The patterns are for loom or square stitch and applique only. The book does not do justice to the rich heritage of Native American art and the great diversity in their use of beadwork.

Great book with Authentic designs!

It would be nice if there were more color photographs, but the author does one better. You can go to the museum & see the designs... she sites on the 1st pages which museums have what designs. Or since she gives the name of the tribe, you can just look them up on the internet.

Great book with many pictures and patterns. All are useable and doable, great instructions. Would highly recommend!

This book has a lot of information for the traditional beader. Hope to use it took make regalia. The transaction was easy and the shipper was very fast.

I have been beading on garments and needed more patterns. This book had several actual beading patterns as well as many applique patterns. It was a nice companion book to my native american beading pattern library.
