4.0 out of 5 stars Worth Purchasing
Written by the Italian equivalent of the AAA, this book gives an Italian view of the regions and important sights and attractions. Some Americans may find some of the selections (i.e., why include this, or why emphasize this) questionable or confusing but working to understand those "why's" gives additional insight to Italian culture.

1.0 out of 5 stars Only book I've ever returned!
I purchased this book in preparation for an upcoming trip to the Piedmont area but was disappointed to find that nearly 1/3 of the book was taken up with ski information in the Aosta valley and another 1/3 on Turin. There was little information on the smaller towns of the area, and no information on wine touring. The book was obviously churned out quickly for the winter...

I purchased this book in preparation for an upcoming trip to the Piedmont area but was disappointed to find that nearly 1/3 of the book was taken up with ski information in the Aosta valley and another 1/3 on Turin. There was little information on the smaller towns of the area, and no information on wine touring. The book was obviously churned out quickly for the winter Olympics. Another deficiency was the lack of maps or directions. For instance, a town or site would be discussed with NO clue as to where it was located; there were only distances shown from a "main" town but no reference as to whether it was north, south, east or west. A very poor excuse for a guidebook--usually I find something worthwhile in any travel book, but not this one. Not recommended.
