I heard through several meetings and workshops that I have attended that there was some "new law" to help children with autism. I was most eager to watch this video to find out what was going on and how I could help my child. This video was very clear and explained the law, the research being done to find better treatments and a cure for autism. I highly recommend this tape to all parents of children with autism. The first step to helping our children is to become informed. This video is a great start to educate parents so we can help find a cure and better treatments for autism. Viewers learn about all the new resources that will be offered to families. For instance, the video discusses the centers for excellence that will be established through out the country for families to go to for help and resources. Once you see the video and know what the future could be for our children, you will feel very inspired and eager to get involved! Also..Anthony Edwards is great as the host.

Although there was a lot of good information in this video, I noticed that most of the research it discusses is based in genetics, and I was disappointed that environmental causes aren't being addressed. I was concerned that no other possible causes for the current epidemic were addressed. Many of us believe that there must be an environmental basis for the increase in autism because humans don't genetically evolve this quickly. I didn't see much addressed about physical health in autism either, which is a big concern for many as well.
If you have a new diagnosis, I would recommend it because it has some good information for beginners.

As a professional educator who has worked with children with Autism and their families, I believe, this video offers parents, educators, and health care professional a clear explanation of Autism and other similar disorders. It is full of valuable information presented in a useful format, simplifying and summarizing the Children's Health Act of 2000 as it relates to Autism. It will be especially helpful to parents and can serve as a guide to them as they seek to become more knowledgeable and therefore become better able to meet their child's needs.

I purchased this video for my good friends who have an autistic son. They loved the video!! I then watch the tape myself and found it to be extremely informative. All parents, grandparents or care givers of autistic children will benefit from this video. I am also a physician and would highly recommend that pediatricians and other health care workers involved with children watch this video. Pediatricians should make this video available to the parents in their practice.
