5.0 out of 5 stars Informative, easy to follow and understand, August 28, 2004
This review is from: Autism Spectrum Disorders from A to Z: Assessment, Diagnosis... & More! (Paperback)
After purchasing many books on Autism Spectrum Disorders I finally found one that made it clear what to do with the diagnosis, how to get help, and how to handle a part of my life that has seemed so out of control. After my son was diagnosed I had no idea what to do. This book covers all of my questions and answered them clearly. I especially love the real life stories the Doyle sisters use to help me "get it".
There wasn't so much technical jargon that it interfered with my reading and understanding the material.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn about Autism Spectum disorders and how to manage your life with them. I've loaned this book to 2 preschool teachers and a family that is trying to understand the Spectrum disorders.
This book is a necessary element to your home library or a great gift to family members and teachers alike.

5.0 out of 5 stars EASY to read!, August 2, 2004

Jackie (Valencia, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Autism Spectrum Disorders from A to Z: Assessment, Diagnosis... & More! (Paperback)
I highly recommend this book which is logically organized in an easy-to-read format. As the title suggests, it answered all my questions regarding early signs and symptoms, the difference between an autism spectrum disorder and ADHD, appropriate testing and diagnosis, all the way through interventions and treatment. The two authors include case history and examples that parents can relate to, especially since one of the authors is a parent of a child diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder. I have referred to this book many times to quickly look up information, and have found the bulleted lists and tables extremely helpful, especially since I am a visual learner!

5.0 out of 5 stars This book, in both Spanish and English, is wonderful, February 2, 2010
By
This review is from: Autism Spectrum Disorders from A to Z: Assessment, Diagnosis... & More! (Paperback)
This book is incredible -- and award winning. It provides a great deal of information in a simple format.

The English version was published in 2004. The Spanish version, "Los Trastornos del Espectro de Autismo de la A a la Z.", was published in 2005. It was honored with the International Latino Book Award for Health that year and, in 2007, both books received the Exceptional Parent Magazine "Symbol of Excellence Award."

Emily Iland has worked tirelessly to help her son, and the children, grandchildren, siblings and spouses of many others to obtain assistance and develop abilities once thought unattainable. She has developed programs with the assistance of the local school district and law enforcement/city agencies to protect, educate and aid the special needs community. Her sister is equally accomplished.

This book is truly special and will benefit anyone who reads it.
