Book Description

October 1994
Written in 7th grade language, this book provides vehicle owners with end-to-end information on every aspect of auto insurance.

It begins with a typical wreck and easily moves the victim throught the steps that should have been taken BEFORE the wreck (such as selecting the right insurer based on how claims are paid). It walks a victim through the collision repair process and details why they should never allow the insurer or its Agents to steer them to their discount repair company.

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

Of Alford's three books this is the best yet!

We think that every car owner in America should have a copy of this work in their glove compartment.

From the Author

I wrote this book after appearing on hundreds of radio talk shows where people would call in about their car wrecks and the problems they had with insurers and shoddy collision repair thugs. Consumers should have this information in their minds - before they need it.

With this book, pitfalls are avoided through education. Some readers have said "This book is like a 4 year degree in insurance and it only took a few hours and $20.00 to get the diploma.

5.0 out of 5 stars The knowledge I got saved me $2,300 when I had an accident., November 3, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Auto Insurance Tricks & Repair Rip-Offs: A New & Different Kind of Owner's Manual (Paperback)
I never thought I'd read any book about "insurance" - but this one is a page-turner. It gave me instant insight and confidence to manage an ugly situation and come out ok. Before this, I had no idea of what really goes on when your car is repaired and how awful it is to get an insurance company to do the right thing (especially when it came to safety issues!) The book is now my "bible" - and I give it to everyone I know who buys a new car!

5.0 out of 5 stars Insurance Companys are Thugs, November 4, 2003
This review is from: Auto Insurance Tricks & Repair Rip-Offs: A New & Different Kind of Owner's Manual (Paperback)
They will use your ignorance to take advantage of you. You can't trust them. If your insurance company thinks they can get away with it (cutting corners to save money), they will try it. Avoid being a victim to the people you have paid to protect you.

1.0 out of 5 stars Obviously Misled, March 6, 2002

Chad Smith (High Point, NC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Auto Insurance Tricks & Repair Rip-Offs: A New & Different Kind of Owner's Manual (Paperback)
As an insurance agent with a very reputable company, I take offense to the writers' comments and attacks on the entire insurance industry. Believe it or not, there are still salesmen in the world today who are not just trying to make the next buck. I strive to provide the type of service that each and every policy holder desires and to look out for their best interests at every given opportunity. I have never sent an insured to a lower quality repair service to save the company a dollar. I tell everyone who takes the time to ask exactly what I would do in their given situation. The bottom line is this: Insurance salesmen are like every other type of salesmen in the world...Not all of them are trustworthy and reputable, but you can't stereotype all of them because of the actions of one.
