I recently bought a cheap old car from a friend b/c I was in need. The worst thing about it was that the sunroof had leaked a year back and the car now reeked of mildew. Although they sealed the sunroof, dried, and shampooed the car the odor was still intense and musky. Fabreeze and other products did nothing. I used this product exactly as directed and left it in my car for 6+ hours. Then ventilated the car as directed. The next day it didn't seem much different but as a few days passed, I noticed the smell was much less disturbing. The car is still "old" smelling and even a little musky but it did make a worthwhile difference. I gave it 3 stars because they promise it's a miracle. I feel like I would need to use it again to get the full effects and I'm not going to pay another $25. I'm much happier in my car than before but this product alone won't make your car smell pleasant or even clean. I would've been very happy if I had spent 10 dollars, but for $20 + s&h I expected more.

Used this product a month ago in a car that we purchased from a smoker. We had tried steam cleaning all the upholstery and carpet, airing the car in the sun for weeks on end and Fabreeze. Nothing worked until we tried this. The smoke smell is completely gone and we are very pleased. This product does what is says it will. It has a very strong chlorine smell after use and the car had to be aired out a few days after use of the auto vaccine - but the residual chlorine odor is now gone and the car smells fresh and clean. No-one would ever know it was a smoker's car.

I would recommend this to anyone!!

During the December 09 blizzard in DC, a lot of snow fell into my Jetta from off of the roof when I opened the door. I made a huge mistake by letting the snow sit there, melt, and soak the carpet for several days. After about a week, the car started to smell of mildew. That is when I decided to thoroughly dry out the mats and carpet; however, it was already too late. The smell was absolutely awful. A $150 interior detail with a mold killing enzyme only eliminated the smell for a few days, but within a week, it was back to full strength. So I decided to try this... perhaps the Auto Vaccine could reach places that the enzyme could not. I left it sealed in the car for 24 hours, then aired it out for another 24 hours after that. I was relieved that I could not smell any mildew at all, however it had a very strong chlorine-like smell. I could deal with this chlorine smell because it was not the mildew that I had grown annoyed with, and based on the reviews here and instructions, it would eventually dissipate. After about three days, the chlorine smell did recede a bit, however at the same time, the mildew smell started to return. After one week, it still had a strong chlorine smell and a fairly strong mildew smell, however not quite as bad as before the Auto Vaccine treatment.

At this point I decided to try an odor eliminating spray for carpet and upholstry, so I cannot say what the long-term results are. However, I believe the chlorine smell would take another few weeks to fully dissipate and that the mildew smell would return to full strength again. It did not work for my mildew problem, which is likely located deep within the carpet and foam padding of my car. I do have to say that it did eliminate the odor in the air and on the surface of the carpets before the deeper smell worked its way back out again, so if you have a smell that is just on the surface, then this product might work for you.

The used truck I bought had the worse smoke smell ever. Even a total interior shampoo and all the Fabreze I could find didn't help.
I bought the Auto Vaccine and I used it according to the directions. The following day I aired out the truck and the only smell remaining was a nice clean "swimming pool" smell. After 2 days, that went away. Still no smoke odor.

I had bought this product back in April '09 and to have on hand for when I quit smoking, per the wife's request. Well I finally quit smoking and got around to using it in the car in March '10. I followed the instructions, but I also let the container set in the car for around 6-8 hours longer than suggested.

It worked! The car reeked of cigarette smoke and now smells great! Even my overly smell sensitive wife says she can't smell it.

Note: If your car has a cabin air filter, you'll probably need to change that. It has no chance of being cleaned with this product. Its not a product fault, but the air filters are pretty tough to clean and have to be changed.

Also I don't think mildew is quite as easily solved as drying out the car and using this. You have to completely remove the mildew, before you use this product.

I used this product in a vehicle that had a terrible pet odor. I followed the instructions for use, left the vehicle closed for the maximum amount of time.
after the clorine odor from the product was gone, the pet odor returned. ( only worked for about one day )
i came to the conclusion that this product would probably work well for cigarette smoke odor, and maybe some other light odors that are just lingering odors, but severe odors that have been closed up in a vehicle for a long time and have soaked into the carpet, headliner, and upholstery, probably need a deep shampoo with a solution that contains a serious odor eliminator

I Purchased a car with a slight smoke odor, did some research on the web and found this product. I used 2 and followed the directions exactly and let the car sit in my garage shut up for 24hrs. I then let it air out for 2 days. Initially it seemed like it worked, but after a few days the chlorine smell dissapated and the smoke odor was the same. I called Biocide systems and they gave me the run around on getting a refund but they finally offered to send another order, I figured maybe after two times it would work. After a week I called to inquire where my new order was and they said I have to email the request they had not shipped it yet. I emailed and another week went by so I called again they said they never got my email, so I sent 2 emails from 2 diffrent addresses. Another week goes by so I call again and all they would do is put me on hold. I would not recommend this product and please dont buy it from Biocide systems. Also many of the good reviews found for this product on amazon can be found word for word on other websites; which most likely means they are phony reviews done by employees.

This product does not work at all and the company does not stand by its refund policy. I dealt with them for months trying to get my money back and my return processed and they completely ignored me. TERRIBLE PRODUCT FROM A TERRIBLE COMPANY!!!!!

I use the Biocide System's room shocker to get rid of cigarette odor out of my guest house. It works so well I decided to try the auto shocker to get rid of the mildew odor from my car. I am blown away at how well these biocide systems products work. This is the only product that has motivated me enough to leave a review.
5 stars all the way.

I purchased a used truck that had a terrible cigarette odor. I started by by scrubbing every surface with a few different cleaners, but there was always that lingering smell. I then found the Auto Shocker system and thought it would help get the smell out of the soft surfaces (headliner/seats/carpet) and the air vents. I followed the instructions VERY carefully and left it in for the max 24 hours. The chlorine smell was present for a few days, but that was expected.

I've waited 2 months to write the review to see if any smells came back. While the product did get rid of the majority of the smoke smell, I'm left with what I describe as a slight musty basement odor. This is only a beater truck - it only leaves the garage a couple times a month, so I know it's not a moisture-related problem.

In the end, I'm giving it 4 stars. It got rid of a lot of the overpowering smell that cleaning couldn't cure, but didn't quite live up to the hype.
