About the Author

Ellen Finkelstein learned AutoCAD in Israel, where she always got to pore over the manual because it was in English. After returning to the United States, she started consulting and teaching AutoCAD as well as other computer programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. She has also taught courses on Web writing and usability. Her Web site, www.ellenfinkelstein.com, contains tips and techniques for AutoCAD, PowerPoint, and presenting, and she publishes the AutoCAD Tips Blog, and a monthly AutoCAD Tips Newsletter. Ellen has written extensively on AutoCAD, including articles for Autodesk’s Web site and features for AutoCAD’s Help system. Ellen’s first book was AutoCAD For Dummies Quick Reference. Since then, she has written books on PowerPoint, OpenOffice.org (OpenOffice. org For Dummies), Flash (such as Flash CS4 For Dummies), and Web technologies (Syndicating Web Sites with RSS Feeds For Dummies). I was brand new to AutoCad a month and a half ago. This book has done exactly what I've needed it to do. It serves well as a educational tool to learn the program at your own pace but also as a reference guide. There is also a BONUS CD with added tools and exercises in the version I received!

I have to version of this book for AutoCAD 2009. I made the point to get the AutoCAD 2010 version. When the release for the next version of AutoCAD comes out, I will likely get it to. This book has everything in it an AutoCAD user needs. It is one of the best reference books available for the subject. I have been using AutoCAD and other CAD programs for over 17 years, and I have learned many things from this book. I would recommend it to any AutoCAD user, regardless of their experience. Anything you need to know about AutoCAD is in there. Even programming in LISP!
