I was brand new to AutoCad a month and a half ago. This book has done exactly what I've needed it to do. It serves well as a educational tool to learn the program at your own pace but also as a reference guide. There is also a BONUS CD with added tools and exercises in the version I received!

I have to version of this book for AutoCAD 2009. I made the point to get the AutoCAD 2010 version. When the release for the next version of AutoCAD comes out, I will likely get it to. This book has everything in it an AutoCAD user needs. It is one of the best reference books available for the subject. I have been using AutoCAD and other CAD programs for over 17 years, and I have learned many things from this book. I would recommend it to any AutoCAD user, regardless of their experience. Anything you need to know about AutoCAD is in there. Even programming in LISP!

Delivered in time as expected, really an exhaustive book on AutoCAD. Deserve the nickname Bible. Recommended for all kind of users.

I have read some AutoCAD books from our library in the past, but this is only the second book I really bought. I needed a good updated one since my AutoCAD 12 book is getting really old.

The book is a full reference of all the functionality in AutoCAD, which is its main value. I bought it as a teacher of AutoCAD for students of Architecture.

It is not a tutorial to learn AutoCAD easily and efficiently. It is too complete. E.g. in the 3D modeling chapter almost every single option to set a 3D viewpoint is discussed. This is good for the sake of completeness, but it overkill for an end user.

Moreover, most of the examples, while related to architecture, are too simple and use feet and inches, without adding SI units in parentheses. A pity.

When I bought this book I already had some experience with AutoCAD 2010. As I read and progress through the book, I am beginning to build a solid foundation with a real understanding of how powerful AutoCAD 2010 is. I am about a third of the way through the book and I am learning new tricks every day.

I am very impressed with this book, it covers in fine detail all the knowledge required for a beginner and expert.

The exercises are mistake free, which is important when learning.

Lacks exercises for those of us who use the metric system.

A metric only version is badly needed.

On page 30 to 32 there is a section explaining how to use a template I can't even follow it I have been using AutoCAD since AutoCAD 10. It says make changes to your template as you see fit and it's for a beginner no mention of limits, text style layers etc. its putting the cart way before the horse
