This review is from: AutoCAD LT 2009 [OLD VERSION] (DVD-ROM)
The program and feature layout in nice, but AutoCad needs to stop publishing software with bugs that effect basic functions. For example, after running for a week or so, trying to use the "File' drop down menu crashed the program! Their website acknowledged this and the 'fix' was to turn off the last file used function (when you click file you see the last XX files opened). Ok, so now it doesn't crash, but you have to go to File/open/and search for the last file you used. Irritating!

For 1100 Bucks I would expect more from a company.

5.0 out of 5 stars How to address an issue with the File menu, August 19, 2008

Charles,

In regards to your post "Mostly good, some unbelievable problems" as the head of AutoCAD Quality Assurance I am very sorry you have experienced this problem. As the solution http://usa.autodesk.com/getdoc/id=TS1069915 stated, it is caused by the incorrect version of a Microsoft DLL file MFC80U.DLL installed on your computer by some other application. It affects not only AutoCAD LT but many other non-Autodesk products and can be fixed by either installing the correct version of this DLL or disabling the Most Recently Used list through the Options dialog. The exact steps are listed in the solution.

Again, I am sorry for the inconvenience this issue has caused you. If you still are unable to use Most Recently Used list in the File menu, may I suggest using Menu Browser in AutoCAD LT 2009? It can be accessed by clicking on the big letter A at the left upper corner of the application and presents you with the number of options in regards to the most recently used files.

3.0 out of 5 stars Its a Test, October 16, 2008
This review is from: AutoCAD LT 2009 [OLD VERSION] (DVD-ROM)
While this version has many great options, it will test your will!

In my opinion, this version is unstable at least under Windows XP. It crashes almost every time I use it. This problem was planed for by the programers. Why else would it be so necessary to provide a drawing recovery manager? It is a frequently used utility with this version...

If Autodesk would have still supported the LT2004 version, I would not be writing this now.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great until I needed 3D, November 17, 2008
This review is from: AutoCAD LT 2009 [OLD VERSION] (DVD-ROM)
I'm a new user, so I may not know enough yet, but that is part of the reason I can only give it 4 stars. I have learned how to use much older versions of AutoCad (years ago), and purchased this for use with some of my survey work. However, I was surprised at the inability to complete decent 3D drawings using this program. HOWEVER, the new ribbon and the way to access the drawing features (such as polar tracking) make this much much better than the previous versions. I have had the issues with the program crashing my computer though. So beware, and don't have too much stuff running while running this program.

I purchased AutoCAD LT 2009 about a week before the 2010 version came out. Doh! Still given the price and the rebate getting the "old" version didn't bother me. I have been using Autodesk products pretty much forever. At work I used the full version of AutoCAD 2008 and at home I've been using an older version of the program - 2000. I decided it was time to upgrade my home version. Since I let the opportunity to upgrade that license pass me by and not really needing or wanting to spend the cash for another full version of AutoCAD, I instead bought the LT version for home use. So far I've found it to be nearly completely comparable to the full version I use at the office. For the most part there isn't much difference between the two versions if all you are doing is 2D drafting. About the only thing that I miss is not having the ability to run my custom Lisp utilities - but for the price I can live with that.

One thing that I think I should mention, the interface for AutoCAD has evolved a lot during the past generations of versions. I, like a lot of long time users like the classic style of menus and toolbar buttons. Thankfully, you can switch the GUI back to the "Classic" style.

The 2009 interface is alot different from what I was used too, being used to 2004 as the latest version. I did not like the new interface but once I figured out you can switch to the "classic interface", all was good again!

5.0 out of 5 stars AutoCAD LT 2009 - Older Version - Just the basics for me!, March 18, 2011

AutoCAD LT 2009 is a great 2-D drafting program loaded with improvements that make it easier to use that prior incarnations. My needs are 2-D, so I don't need the bells and whistles (and price tag!) of the full version. Plus, buying older versions is easier on your pocket book. Highly recommended!

I also bought this through StewArtStudio here on Amazon and had great service!

5.0 out of 5 stars Improved compared to AutocadLT 2007, May 29, 2009
This review is from: AutoCAD LT 2009 [OLD VERSION] (DVD-ROM)
Surprisingly more features were added in 2009 compared to AutocadLT 2007. Insert Raster Image and VPCLIP. I was dissapointed to see the new File Bar setup but you can change it to classic view.

5.0 out of 5 stars AutoCAD LT 2009 (Old Version), April 30, 2009
This review is from: AutoCAD LT 2009 [OLD VERSION] (DVD-ROM)
Unzipping the product took a long time (over three hours). After unzipping and installing, had to go back to seller to get license info. It was quickly answered and everything went fine. Program works great.

5.0 out of 5 stars great substitute, March 27, 2009
This review is from: AutoCAD LT 2009 [OLD VERSION] (DVD-ROM)
if you need to do quick drawings or transfer files between programs & people this is a great product to use. Our firm doesn't do much with 3D in AutoCAD so we don't have an issue using this LT. The new 2009 format is easy to learn & use. Highly recommended & the price is perfect.
