You can get a code reader cheaper than this one. A lot of the functions on the unit like 'MON' and 'DATA' buttons require an upgrade for $99. The unit did not come with cable to link it to a computer to do the upgrade, you also have to purchase that.

This code reader performs well. I like the case and all the items supplied. What is lacking is information. Yes it reads and displays codes, but codes without explanation are of little value. I inquired by e-mail to the manufacturer about cost of code descriptions but the reply was lacking in explaining how to obtain same. The reply did note that the particular code I asked about was related to emission controls but that is too broad an explanation to isolate a problem. You can buy upgrades for the code reader but description of what you get is also vague, therefore anyone buying an upgrade would not know what they were getting.

On the plus side I was able to find code descriptions on the internet but it was not easy. Once I had the code I bought and replaced the defective part and the problem was solved. Calling a dealer and inquiring about the cost of replacing the same part revealed I saved over 50% of their price, and I included the cost of the reader. Therefore it was a true bargain, but without the code description would have been of little value.

If you want just a code reader, you can get one for alot less money. I expected more out of this one (my mistake). When I contacted customer support and questioned the unusable 'MON' and 'DATA' buttons, their response was "buy the $99 upgrade".

Shipping of the ez read 2000 was very quick and the Ez read 2000 works as advertized. Used it to clear my check engine light from problem I corrected a year ago with the egr, and have used it several times on friends and family vehicles to pinpoint problems. The unit works very well and is user friendly. A fee will be charged for the upgrades to a scanner etc., but the upgradeable feature is the reason I purchased it.

Cables are of excellent quality

you get your money's worth with this scanner. Found the problem with my truck in seconds.

Bought this a few years ago, since then not usable on my 4 older 1995 & up cars, nothing realy works, as a code reader it is a piece of expensive ###$%, it is not a tool, will not check the ABS or erase the ABS or other error codes on LH series Chryslers, no cables available for the 1995 Chrysler Concorde LH series for this scanner, although I tried to find some way to use it. way overpriced and misleading can't tell how many hours I wasted trying to use it. everything is upgrades and cable costs. I put it on the shelf and every once in a while when I have some problem I try to use it and it can't be used because the cables that came with it won't fit. Calling their tech help is usless they know less than I do. Trying to sell me another piece of overpriced %^&# junk instead of helping me to use the first piece of trash. Also no way of finding what the error codes mean since the scanner only gives error code and it would take a long time to find out what they say. I am an advanced do it your selfer with years of experience in electronics and mechanics etc.. If I am having difficulty the average person is lost.

It works well and a good asset to have when troubleshooting. It allowed me to find a knock sensor error and know to start looking for it on the vehicle. Using my repair manual I found where it was and traced the wire and in very limited confines I found a broken conductor (but no break in the insulation of the wire) by a bulge I noticed. I spliced it and problem solved!
It has many cables for many makes/models. I purchased and extra one I think too and am covered now for almost anything.

This product was amazingly simple to use and very accurate, I knew what was wrong with my car in less than ten minutes. I am really glad I purchased it!
