Book Description

The Amazing Story of How Half a Million Souls Were Converted Through One Man's Ministry

In an age without amplifiers or mass communication, nineteenth-century evangelist Charles G. Finney's ministry changed the course of American Christianity. His valuable insights on the work of the Holy Spirit and principles for revival now inspire and encourage twenty-first-century believers with a passion for reaching their nations for Christ.

Charles G. Finney (1792-1875) was powerfully converted in 1821 after thoroughly exploring the claims of Christ. An avid student of the Bible, he soon engaged in preaching and teaching throughout the eastern and southern United States.

Finney's autobiography was first published in 1876, a year after his death. This edition, first published a century later, was condensed and updated while retaining the heart of his amazing narrative, making the principles of revival easily understood by contemporary readers.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book will give you a stronger desire to know and love God, July 24, 2006
This review is from: Autobiography of Charles G. Finney, The: The Life Story of America's Greatest Evangelist--In His Own Words (Paperback)
First of all I should tell you to get the non-condensed, non-edited version. I have read both, and the original is the best. This book is amazing. It is so awesome to read about someone who knows what it means to be sold out for Christ. Finney's encounters with the presence of God are incredible! You will read about men and women under true conviction of sin that leads to repentance. Some say Finney had weird doctrine, and he did, but don't let that stop you from reading this and being inspired to live radically for Jesus Christ. Christians have done great things after reading this book. This book inspired Catherine Booth and the person who started the YMCA. Read how God used him to convert 500,000 men to Christ and that 80% of those people that commited their life to Christ really did. That is amazing considering about only 5-7% of conversions today are actually true conversions.

I wholeheartedly recommend this resource for whoever desires to be awakened to the power of God in their lives. It is a condensed autobiography of one of the most powerful men to be used in the nation of America. This impacted my life more than I know, and it has done the same for many others.
