This Takes You Back, June 8, 2011
This review is from: Autobiography of a Hippie: 1964 through 1969 (Paperback)
Autobiography of a Hippie by Chris Totten is a remarkable work. Why? The author has a direct, honest writing style that takes you with him on a remarkable journey. Sometimes it is extremely uncomfortable and at others exhilarating.
Mr. Totten is brutally honest in describing his activities to survive. You cannot help but love him though as you travel with him on his singular journey through the America of King, Kennedy, Johnson and Nixon. Living and surviving on the streets, the drugs, sex and music.... it is all there in an honest narrative style that makes you feel that you know the man.
This is not just for aficionados of sixties culture. This is for anyone who enjoys unpretentious, down to earth, honest descriptions of our times and our place in this world.
You will experience what he describes vicariously through his writing.
The writing is honest and fresh, unpretentious but also unpolished
