Disappointing,
This review is from: Autodesk Inventor 2008 for Designers (Paperback)
To start, the title of the book is missleading. I tend to expect that a book with "for designers" in the title would lean towards more advanaced topics. Aprox 50% of this book is filled with tutorials which are great if you are a beginner and have never used a CAD system prior to this book. It spends way too many words and paper discusing very repetative tasks, over and over and over, yet somehow always seems to leave out any and all reference to the very non-intuitive features which are difficult to find. One of my pet peevs with this book is the lack of a thorough discussion of menus and how to use them. I also find the index lacking useful navigation data.
If you are a beginner looking for a bunch of tutorials this is the book for you. If you are a real designer you will be disappointed.

As with most people, everyone has an opinion. I read a previous review indicating the book was a disappointment. I would have to disagree. I bought this book with the expectation of learning AutoCAD Inventor. This book does exactly that. Sham Tickoo gives step-by-step instructions. If you have time to attend a major university take a class. If not, this book is the next best thing. I find the step-by-step tutorials exactly what I need. I would highly recommend this book.
