Book Description

It’s your lucky day! 3D artist and Maya® expert Dave Girard is giving away over 12 years worth of Autodesk® Maya® tips and tricks cheap! As an art director, 3D illustrator, writer, blogger, Maya® tester and efficient-workflow nut, Dave has been in the trenches with Maya on multiple OS platforms for over 12 years and knows how to make it sing, or at least squawk as little as possible. Whether you’re a Maya® novice, game designer, rigger, visual effects freelancer, or seasoned generalist, 101 Autodesk® Maya® Tips has plenty of information to get you working faster and quickly solving issues that can arise when dealing with this massive program. The included tips are up-to-date and even include some newer features like the Node Editor in Maya® the 2012 Subscription Advantage Pack and the forthcoming Maya® 2013. As an added bonus, 101 Autodesk® Maya® Tips includes free scripts and utilities for use with Maya® on all platforms.

I've used some of the tips from this book to help streamline my workflow in Maya.

Unfortunately, I don't find myself referring back to this book very often, it's a bit of a one-off.

Great tips from a great artist.

I mean for that price, why not become a little more intelligent? I've read it in two hours, and some of these tips rest now on my maya shelves.

This book worked very well for adding polish to our cross-platform pipeline. It has a lot of great tips bundled in one concise volume and jumps straight in to them with appropriate explanation into why the tip works. The format is GREAT as well : "Tip #4. This is what the tip accomplishes" followed by how to execute it. A fast read and very detailed with appropriate directories and related information where necessary. Very useful to reference later when needed with the highlighting feature in the Kindle app. Highly recommended!

The first tip in this book is worth the $3 price. I had at least four "Aha!" moments while reading through the 101 tips. Just buy it!
