I won't go into much details about the already existing solid features of Sketchbook Pro; rather the new features of the 2011 version:

- Better layer management: Transparency slider exists right on the layer slot in the Layers palette. No more separate transparency dialog box. (New) Basic layer blend modes are also a big plus.

- Toolbar also makes feature access much better.

- (Editable) Text layer (great new addition)

- Shape tools: circle, square, polyline.

- Basic image adjustment - saturation, contrast, etc.

- new custom brush settings like spacing jitter (I do wish they made the custom brush settings dialog scrollable, instead of having to close segments if the lower segments extend below the screen).

All in all, solid improvements (so far stable with no crashes or hiccups). SBP is vital, I think, for any digital artist. At $79 for full version, quite a deal; at $39 upgrade for 2010 owners, I think it is very worth the price.

I am an illustrator and graphic designer. A year ago I added Sketchbook Pro to my arsenal of software. Sketchbook Pro gave me great latitude and saved time in the studio without the mess of using conventional media. A month ago I upgraded to Sketchbook Pro 2011 and the new interface and abilities of the software just made an amazing product even better. I give this software a thumbs up, five stars or what ever affirmative you might like. The only suggestion left from me is for you to get it.....NOW!!!

Installed the 2011 upgrade disk and followed instructions but it does not upgrade or change 2010 Sketchbook. Can find no online technical support.

I loved the Sketchbook 2010 the way it responds to my tablet is like a dream. There were times that I wished the 2010 version had more tools to draw like on paper like more shapes. Well 2011 did all that and more. The portability to other programs is still included. I like the fact that you can sketch things out like a pro and quickly color things in and then export your work for other software.

Low price
Easy to learn
Powerful
and most of all fun.

I have SBP on three devices. This is the one I use mostly though, on my Macbook Pro. The upgrade is worth the extra cost for the new toolbars. The only downside is if your using an Intuos4 tablet, they have taken away the functionality of the tablet's buttons and scroll ring. This means reaching for the keyboard to do often used commands like Hand (Move), Rotate, and Brush Size. I have searched for anyone that has been able to map the tablets buttons to SBP but I haven't been able to find any information.

All told, it is a graphics program worthy to be in any artist's toolbox.

There are some nice new features in this upgrade but overall I think more could have been done. I'd like to see shortcuts to move between eraser, brushes, paint bucket, etc. The tools are now more accessible which speeds up the drawing process. New tools like rectangles, straight lines, ovals, etc. can now be drawn in more easily. After all is said and done, I'm glad I got the upgrade.

This software lets me put the faces in the correct portion sizes.
It does fantasic with any style of art from faces to flowers.
Also I can sent the artwork to my family on e-mail.
I like that the software works with Windows.
The thing is, when I was putting the software on my computer I found out it is a upgrade.

For digital painters, Sketchbook Pro is frustrating to use, which is why you don't see many digital painters using Sketchbook Pro. Go figure.

--If you're serious about digital painting, get Photoshop. It's expensive, but it's what most digital painters use because of the handy features.

--If you're a little bit less serious, but you still want to produce near-professional paintings, get GIMP. It's like Photoshop, but with slightly less features. AND, it's free.

--If you're looking for software that has LESS features than GIMP, but costs MORE than GIMP, get Sketchbook Pro!

Seriously, don't get Sketchbook Pro. It's like a crappy version of GIMP that somehow costs more than GIMP.
