Unusable Product,

This review is from: Autodesk Stitcher Unlimited 2009 [Old Version] (DVD-ROM)
I have years of digital imaging experience including the use of other brands of stitching software. I am very disappointed and have not been able to render a usable stitch. I agree with the other reviewer, Stitcher Unlimited 2009 is 'very clunky,' at best.My problems effectively began right out of the box. Each time I tried to use the software it demanded that I reenter the serial number, which required that I had to keep that number handy. It took a little over two weeks, via many emails, with Autodesk support - there is no phone support with this product - to get this problem resolved. Also, Autodesk's web site is very poor, and it took me about an hour and several visits to the site, so that I could register and claim my 30-days of email support. I finally had to call an 800 number (for a different product) to get the email address in which to start communicating with Autodesk on its Stitcher software. To be fair, their employee did try hard to fix the first problem which eventually was solved. The second problem - its ability to render a stitch - was never solved. The files I tried to stitch were from a Nikon D3X in both tiff and jpg formats, to no avail. All the rendered images came out at a resolution significantly lower than even a web image. The final emails from Autodesk, on this issue, came back blank (no words), as if there is an auto response to my emails and they are not getting through. I have since deleted this software from my computer.

I have been using Stitcher since it first came out. This is the best yet. We create allot of VR and use this all the time. The auto stitching works well except if your images have no real detail then you can go in and use manual stitching and get it done. It is one of the fastest stitchers out there and if you feel your spending too much on software you save more money by being out shooting then in front of the computer.

Stitcher is an exceptional software package for making panoramas and QTVRs. I've used it for years and am still amazed at the image quality. New features like HDR capability greatly expand the usefulness of the package and really cut corners in post production when matching interior views with exterior "out the window" views essential to quality QTVRs. Processing is amazingly fast, and there are many options to choose when blending and rendering images. Multiple file formats and tack sharp images make the images easily portable to 3RD party apps. Recently I have been producing billboard images that are simply beautiful - and huge.

Tremendous Disappointment!,

I have not bought anything in a long time I regret as much as buying this software. It is not intuitive at all (and I'm not new to computers!). I basically quit using the program figuring I'd get back to it and spend the time necessary to understand how to use it. But I have a lot of experience using panoramic software... this is one clunky program and the cost is way, way, way too high. In fact, this is basically Freeware software as far as I'm concerned. Worst software buy I've ever made (if you factor in the cost of the software).

Still the best stitching software available,

I've used Stitcher since its early days and it is still the best photo-stitching software available. Stitcher puts you in a spherical 3D environment, with many automatic tools for creating 360 degree panoramas. The end results are truly stunning. I've come to rely on Stitcher on everything from VR tours to stitching together random photos from holidays and it's never let me down.

I've been using Stitcher since it's Realviz days, and consider it an essential and reliable part of my workflow for interior images. It's robust and well-engineered.
