ONCE AGAIN I'M LATE..., November 10, 2005

I had always heard of Mouse on Mars and of couse stayed away from them for fear that their style would be too "techno" or too "popular". That ain't the case on "Autoditaker." This is an incredible album of heavy basslines, glitches, melodies, abstract beats and catchy hooks sure to please. I just got hip to these guys--damn those sampling stations--but I think I might've found a new favorite group. Just what the doctor ordered!

One of the most creative groups to ever arise of any musical tradition, Mouse on Mars at this stage in their career are just outside the dust belt that orbits more mainstream club music. But make no mistake, this isn't going to sound like Ricardo. There are recognizable drum machines in here, with plenty of mangled analog beats and melodies produced by a cadre of worn-out but mostly optimistic salvaged droids.
