We recently bought a house which is on a septic system, and one of the suggestions for keeping the septic in order was to avoid using chlorine bleach. The chlorine kills bacteria necessary for the septic to process waste material. The majority of commercially available dishwasher powders contain chlorine bleach, and who knows what else.

Biokleen's dish powder contains and oxygenating bleach and its biodegradable. That makes me happy. What also makes me happy is that the product works exceptionally well - our dishes are very clean. It's concentrated, so one tub lasts for 64 washes. I also enjoy the smell - it has a very slight citrus scent. I find most dish powders to leave the dishes smelling like grandma's perfumed soap.

I highly recommend this product and will only be using this from here on out.

Why oh why didn't we try this Biokleen stuff before the legions of other eco-cool dishwasher soaps that are now sitting around in our cabinet half-used and extremely-less-than-reliable? Maybe it's to make us grin every time we use the dishwasher now, because we have a detergent that's awesome, and we know exactly how grateful to be for it!

No more re-washes (as in 7th Generation food stains that won't budge), no more dishes that taste like a bouquet of flowers from the Yankee Candle Store or something (I'm looking at you, GrabGreen!), no more spots aplenty (hey, what's up, Ecover!) -- no more problems in the dish realm at all! And we have the hardest water here of anywhere in the U.S.

I should add that I pour a solution of borax water into the rinse aid area, ideally to assist with rectifying hard water issues, but I'm not sure that's helping all that much, since the holder receptacle has long been rusted out and the fill level rarely seems to go down much. Even if it were helping, it didn't help the other brands enough. Not even those gross Cascade pudgy pillows of nastiness, which we thought would definitely solve the grimy dishware problem (and, ugh!, the smell of that stuff in the air when the machine was running!). Nope, Cascade, the eco-enemy heavy hitter, didn't even solve anything. And we were morose. Then we tried this stuff, because our general laziness breeds undying faith that the ideal effort-saving product is out there just waiting to be discovered. And whaddyaknow? Biokleen kleens admirably! And it's pretty cost-effective, too. We have to use about 2 Tbsp per load b/c of hard water, but others may get by with using far less. Even in our older, tired dishwasher, it works a treat.

I find this powder works great in my dishwasher. You have to be sure not to use too much powder, or else it WILL leave a film on all of your dishes. You only need ONE tablespoon (1/2 tablespoon in each of the two cups)! Apparently the film can also happen if you have very soft water as well, so you'll need to use less powder. I've never had this problem, but I don't think I have soft water.

I have tried just about every biologically friendly, earth friendly, environmentally responsible dishwashing detergent out there. This one is pretty darn good. The package is recyclable. (Bonus!) No, there is no measuring spoon in there - the company is being responsible and not adding more plastic that will get thrown away into the landfills. (Use your own!) I use just about half of the recommended amount of what is called for, about one total tablespoon. Husband tends to add more, and then there is definitely a chalky residue on the bottom of the glasses that are on the top rack. Just rinse it off, it's fine. No big deal. My glassware will never sparkle like the old days when things were washed with phosphates (yikes!), but there has to be a trade off. Health and environment or diamond like sparkle. I'll take a good dose of health, thank you.

No, this isn't perfect. But it is the best one I have found thus far. It is pretty darn good. I feel good using it. I know that there are no chemicals that are going to harm me, my family or the environment. I know that when I put my organic food on my plates, there are no nasty chemicals added to the food because of the detergent.

I LOVE all Bi-O-Kleen products including this one. You only use a tablespoon or two and it cleans amazingly well.

This dish soap works great for our mildly hard water. We have no spotting on our dishes, only clean wonderfully sparkly dishes. And it helps that this dish soap is environmentally friendly so I can feel better about what we're using.

Well...I wanted to try something without phosphates since I cant find anything in the regular stores...so gave this a shot. After several uses...I am totally happy. I am not absolutely certain as I could just have a kick butt dishwasher since i had never used it. No residues...everything comes out very clean. A little goes a long way....a tablespoon...1/2 in pre, 1/2 in regular. This oughta last a year....not cheap though. But, by the time you average it out...its good for the money. 1/22/14....we are still using our original purchase of a case which came in 12....we have 7, so we are using one a year. We do dishes 2 - 3 times a week in our Kenmore, and I mean this works in ours....use a very little amount. It actually cleans our coffee pot if you fill with hot water and a teaspoon of this...it will get rid of the coffee stain even. Anyhow....we wont switch. Weve had the white residue....but we have great water and probably just used too much.
