I read some negative reviews of this product, but I have had no issues with it. Yes, you have to keep the manual handy for re-programming in case you have to turn it off for a few days, but otherwise, it is reliable (and that's what matters most to me). It is not terribly accurate, as far as dispensing exactly 1/4 cup per serving, but it is consistent. I measured how much is dispensed per serving and adjusted the # of feeding times per day to match my dog's usual intake. She now gets fed at 5 AM, 3 PM, and 9 PM - never misses a meal - and I don't have to get up at 5! It's pretty great. I bought 3 - one for my house, a back-up in case it breaks, and one for my parents house when my dog is there visiting. It works for us.
