THese batons are very hard to close once opened on purpose. That is a BONUS not a negative. IF you want to by a worthless baton- get one that closes easily- when you thrust at your opponent- the baton will collapse and leave you defenseless.

If you know what you are doing with these batons they can be amazing self defense weapons.

TIP: You can remove the handle guards on these batons to make them more easily concealed and just as effective. There are plenty of walkthroughs on the net on how to do this.

For bouncers, having two of these and being trained in Kali could save your life and the lives of many others.

TO CLOSE THE BATON - Simply point it downward on a hard, even surface such as pavement- and push down using your bodyweight by leaning on it in a crouched position to keep balance.
WHen you get used to doing this- you can do it rather quickly.

I have two problems with this baton. It seems a little larger than expected when closed up and when extended it was shorter than I had hoped for. But that is my beef. The main problem is that when you extend to thing it take the strength of 10 men to close it back to its bulky closed state. Just forget about the holder it comes with.

When I received this item, I thought it was awesome. The spring action is very cool, fast, and impressive. However, after opening and closing it a few times, I realized that the handle isn't very comfortable to grip or swing. For example, I would doubt its usefulness in an actual self-defense scenario, so if you want a baton for any practical purpose, I would not recommend this product. As a novelty, however, it is still a lot of fun to hear that metallic "schunk" as the baton expands, so "for the fun of it," it is great.
